No. Drive past it all the time, but have never been in there. Good?
- Ogilthorpe2

Decent, my son lives close by, so I’ve been in there a couple of times.

Who will KD target on July 13?

Colin White?

100% accurate. The organization did him a favor to trade him to a team closer to his kid (that did not have to happen) and then he just retires because the GM wants him to? In fact the GM wanted Keith and Smith to retire. Where is the players union?
- powerenforcer

You continue to be one of the dumbest morons on the internet. The fans wanted him to retire. That was apparent. You have no idea what the GM wanted. He asked him a question and he got his answer. Nothing more. You have no f****** idea what any one of these people think You're too stupid

Asking him to retire is a way to circumvent the cap. You must be related to Bettman!

What do you think it would take to hire him away

100%. Especially after team did him right and got him closer to him for his kid and a chance to win.

Great player but really a d-ck move and see how this organization responds to this long term. Wirtz will Wirtz.

- SteveRain

I'm pretty sure that those cap penalty numbers are just numbers and not real dollars. Keith is actually saving Wirtz something like $7M over 2 years. Keith might get the best "Last Shift" in Hawk history.

Welcome to the next 5 years of Hawks hockey. I fear we have returned to the Dark days of the old man.

At least we get to watch Jones fall on his ass repeatedly for the next 8 years

He must be too young to recall all the irrelevant years of Chicago teams and oh boy, are there a lot of them.
- Elbows15

Well i remember many irrelevant years. Instead of focusing on them i relish the golden years.

I'm with you i didn't like the Cat trade or Dach, I've just gotten better at accepting it instead of being upset for years its become days. And maybe just maybe you are guilty of what you accuse me of, Hjalmarsson being traded for Murphy, no draft pick is good enough to make up for the Cat trade?

I do to, but i won't pretend i know better than the team that drafted him, i will side with hope and optimism. Without hope it's just to dark of a road for me.
- BetweenTheDots

Oh relax a bit B-T-D, there won't be any championships for awhile but eventually some new young kids will burst into flowers and there will be hope again.

Real darkness is the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fans, living without sunshine and facing directly into the blackness of space - permanently.

Unless the goal is to see if all of the rosters at all levels can continuously be turned over every year - thereby keeping every single player at all levels of the OR GAN I ZAY SHUN (yep, I think it's back) ... at the absolute minimum.

That's corporate balance sheet management at its best. $$$$ The Accountant might get a bobblehead night -commemorate the true priorities (actually might be better in a snowglobe ...seeing as there seems to be a lot of snowing going on)

Total ground-floor rebuild....wow.

How quickly this franchise fell from grace after the 3 cups is mind blowing considering the depth of talent they had. This team should of been a force for a decade.

Proof that excellent management matters in pro sports.

Glad for the cups but the organization failed in the long run.

No one wants any of those plugs. Maybe Rask but do the Hawks need another 5th rd pick?

He isn't saving the Wirtz any money. He was traded and Edm was paying him.

Assuming the recapture penalty counts toward the cap, Rocky gets $5+M toward the cap by spending $0.

You know what I’m saying - they’ll acquire some UFAs who will be traded for low round picks in the draft. And yes, 4th & lower picks have value.

It was a terrible trade no matter who they took. KD got pants by one of the worse GMs in the league.

At least get someone who has the potential to put the puck in the net. Its fine they drafted a type but unfortunately the type didn't include guys who can actually score aside from Nazar. And overagers.

Still isn't saving any actual dollars, tho. He wasn't due to pay him this season anyway. The Hawks were already at the floor with his cap hit. Or would have been once they fill out the roster with RFA signings(if any) or promoting from within to fill the spots.

Which would have added 5-7M to the number already.

What UFA is going to sign up for this mess? Guys no one wanted in the first place? Or they would sign them this summer.
