And in two years they can offer sheet Hagel and have the old band together again. - boilermaker100
Hahaha, yeah i don't see KD giving up any draft picks in the next 5 years. It would be impressive though if they are one of the few teams that can see budding NHL talent, win the lottery next year, and by 2025 be one of the best farm systems.
Maybe (fingers crossed) over pay a wee bit for 1 year FA's that you can flip at the dead line to just keep accumulating picks.
Convince Kane to stay so he can keep feeding players like Raddysh and others to increase their market value.

There is a part of me that does feel for Seth Jones, I'm sure this isn't what he imagined, but then again $70 something million dollar contract should at least let him sleep through the night. |

The same team that just paid a 35 year old Letang? I see a LTIR in his future - BetweenTheDots
No need. Its a 35+ plus contract. IIRC, he can just retire with no issues for the team |

Really? No matter how much i sucked i would play that contract out. It's not like Keith's contract he was only being paid $1.5 mil in his last season |

Maybe he will but if does want to retire, the team doesn't need to do the LTIR dance. |

Disagree, big kudos to Keith, a guy who punched above his weight in the NHL for well over a decade.
Professional sports is full of guys who stayed on too long. Very rare for an athlete to walk away from a guaranteed paycheck.
All parties to the trade to Edmonton knew the implications of the trade when it was made. All parties knew this could happen.
If the 'Hawks were even in the neighborhood of playoff contention, this cap recapture penalty might mean something. But they're not, by any stretch of the imagination. - 35Tony0
Doesn’t make it right. I’m
Over it but if there are long term hurt feelings by the Wirtz family regarding it….I wouldn’t be surprised. |

Seems, though, that the BOD has decided these draft picks will be awful. Why sign a high priced wing to a bad team; it is like putting perfume on a pig.... - mohel
Especially when 90% of this board thinks they can draft better than hockey ops. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fact they didn’t take kids every “expert”
On this board was pining for is encouraging enough for me.
I also get reminded how very few actually understand how a rebuild looks like. |

I kind of don't get that, piss and moan about the speed of the team, but they target all these players who can skate, but it wasn't the players they wanted

The boards #1 pick went 4th. Three really dumb GMs, doubt it.

I thought he'd go #1 but i figured everyone else knew what they were takking about
Like Justin Fields going 2nd in the draft, Bears got really lucky on that one, many doubters but i think Pace actually made the right move on this one and won't be able to be a part of it. |

Am pretty sure a guy like Keith couldn't give a flying ... I see it more as a teammate move - probably saw the last few years as screwing over teammates for no real reason... at the end of the day, guy was on 3 Stanley Cup winners with the team, and won a Conn Smythe.
Fields didn't go #2 did he? I thought it was about #7 ... it was the Biscuit that went #2 (for no real reason). Edit: turns out Fields was #11. |

If I remember correctly, its much worse, he went with the 11th pick, and was the 4th QB drafted. |

You know i used to be part of the fantasy football thing, and i always said to myself don't get caught up in what the media is selling, which is really difficult to be honest, because of it i would do very well, but as always a little luck goes a long way in those leagues.
Bears drafted him 11th and SF drafted Lance at 3rd. When all said and done i think Fields will be the better QB he may actually be the best out of this class.
I do wonder if the Blue Jackets thought Korchinski would be there for their 2nd first round pick? I imagine there was a collective (frank) when the Blackhawks made their pick. |

I meant projected to go as the 2nd pick, my apologies for the misunderstand
I told my son pre draft, he'll fall because he's black and just a hair of controversy will scare off most of the GM's |

Carolina took a chance on Deangelo (and it was not that big a gamble) after he was bought out by the Rangers last summer. A year later they move this asset which cost them nothing for a 2nd, a 3rd, & a 4th round draft pick.
The kind of team management exemplified by Carolina makes me envious. - 67hawks

Oh snap! Do the kids even say that anymore
This is an analytic driven team, have to admit they are building something but will it ever be enough to win a SC.
Added, i remember the 80's 90's was at the 4th game where the Pens won the Cup vs Blackhawks. Damn that sucked just imagine Bingo and other fans are sitting in that limbo. Fear of being a fan is terrible thing thinking that team will never make it over that hump.
I've been able to witness the greatest football team ever 85 Bears,, 2010 Blackhawks plus the 17 second miracle, (didn't get my voice back for a week), the Cubs winning a world series, the Sox winning a world series for my Sox friends. The likes of Walter Payton, frickin Michael Jordan a true phenomenal talent, so many Hawks players, Bears players' Cubs players and Sox players, Roenick thinking about that kid crying after the Blackhawks lost another playoff series in the 90's, although i don't like the band aid being ripped off i just consider myself very fortunate to be able to witness such greatness over the years in Chicago

Nagy cost Pace his job. That and too many bad draft picks. The Foles/Dalton fiasco took up so much cap space they had to cut Kyle Fuller and Charles Leno. Leno wasn't great but they went into the season without a Left Tackle. Even George McCaskey could tell too many mistakes by the guy in charge. Hard to say if some of those picks would have worked out better with a better head coach? |

Carolina reminds me of the Oakland A's. Moneyball... er Moneypuck... Just doesn't have a ring to it. Oakland has no series titles in a long time.

Welcome to the next 5 years of Hawks hockey. I fear we have returned to the Dark days of the old man.
At least we get to watch Jones fall on his ass repeatedly for the next 8 years

He must be too young to recall all the irrelevant years of Chicago teams and oh boy, are there a lot of them. |
