Well they will need to fill out the bottom half of the roster and can develop your next waves of the guys who were imperative to giving them depth in their run from 2008-09 until 2017 - SteveRain
The next wave of player won't be on the roster for 3 or 4 years. So much for that. It also makes trading a 24 year old kinda pointless. What are they going to learn from the Jay Beagle and Cody Eakins of the world? How to suck? |

Brendan Perlini is not getting a QA from the Oilers, with Sakura and above, we only need one more for a top 6 ! |

You just know Carpenter is coming back like a bad penny. We will get the "he is good in the locker room" tripe. |

So what were you expecting? Hang on to everyone and then finish 11th in the conference draft in the low teens, re up kane for another 4-5 years after signing debrincat? He’ll extend an unknown like dach for 4 million. Sign strome as well and then what happens in 3-5 years from now when you’re still in the same spot?
It’s a rebuild. It’s going to get awful like late 90s early 00s (outside of sutters team in 01-02) and hopefully after enough moving of assets they have the right mix.
What needs to be asked is
1. Is Davidson the “builder” they need? Sure as hell wasn’t Stan.
2. Is Richardson the guy to teach these kids the right way to play without ruining their confidence and also maximizing their trajectory?
3. Will the team be patient with prospects regardless of gimmicks needed to put asses in the seats at the uc? Ie…not rushing a kid up to sell tickets.
All 3 are tied very close to each other. Hope for the best but sure as hell I’m not going to write off every move because they didn’t get enough for this guy, gave up on that guy too quick, or didn’t draft a player me as a fan wanted. Let’s trust this management team to do right by us as fans. |

Sounds like the only restricted free agents the Blackhawks are bringing back are Caleb Jones and Philipp Kurashev.
Throwing a bone to Seth or genuinely convinced he was of more value than those they are letting go? |

BM, Kochinski, or anyone 18 yrs old or older, can play in the NHL. A kid drafted out of Major Junior (OHL, WHL, QMJHL) has to stay in MJ until he is 20 UNLESS he makes an NHL roster.
Kochinski has 2 choices next yr and the following yr. Major Junior or the NHL. If he plays his 20 yr old in MJ he then can play AHL.
Same with this yrs draft picks Paul Ludwinski and Gavin Hayes. All other picks this yr can play in any league in the world next yr. - Mr Ricochet
Thanks guys! I agree, let these young players marinate for a bit. |

Maybe they think they can flip C Jones for a 3rd?
Well, after letting Strome and Kubalik walk, the only other RFA in the org are Alty and Kalynuk. Wonder if Powers just means at the NHL level? Not that either are a big loss but RFD needs bodies, too. |

Guess you haven’t been a fan for awhile. Nature of the beast. Can’t be good forever.
Sure as hell not going to bow the knee to the minority of media and fans pushing for a name change. Those people can f right off. |

Don’t trust them then. But what other choice do you have, other than changing your allegiances to another team?
I think Steve’s dead on. This rebuild should have begun at least four seasons ago if not six. Some of the assets could have been moved for prospects and picks and today the Hawks would be in the midst of a rebuild instead of the beginning of one. And Steve is also bang on, in that this rebuild is going to take awhile so enjoy watching guys develop, enjoy the small steps to success and look forward to the drafts for the next few years or come back if/when the team is contending again. |

Held on to Cat until I got my price. And if not, he is still young enough to have value for a few more season. So what if he is going to make 9M or so. I keep Kane too and look to move others. Given what they got for Cat, the return wouldn't have been much different in moving Jones. |

I get frustrated at time don't agree with everything they do , but I will be here supporting these guy win or lose . GO HAWKS !!!! |

A big part of the last run for me was watching the team accumulate tons of talent in about 2005 or so. Then each subsequent season see another and another player start to shine, Keith and Seabrook then the drafting of Toews in 2006, I still remember where I was when I heard it. Then the following year drafting Kane. The next season those two making the Hawks after each had a great WJC. The firing of Savard and acquisition of Q. Getting tickets to see them play the Leafs in 2009. Getting Sharp then Hossa. The emergence of Bolland, Hjalmarsson, Buff, Versteeg and others. Everything falling into place right before my eyes. The 2010 season with two very average goalies then that night in Philly which I thought I’d never witness in my lifetime. So I’m here to hopefully watch it happen again, or not, but either way it’s a way to put aside the real problems in life. |

I’m surprised they’re not qualifying Kalynuk. |

I get the anger on debrincat. Many were assuming they would get 2, 1sts and a nhl ready player.
The million dollar question here is what is the internal budget set at? Knowing they will have a dip in attendance, viewership, is this something set low to not keep long term deals on the books?
I expect some reaches on ufa day to be flipped come trade deadline day.
Think that and then of course what the wonder twins decide to do (stay, ask out, etc) are all we have left. |

Agreed 100%.
Think it was a game in Phoenix in 2007 or 2008 where you could see it coming together. Buff. Brouwer. Versteeg.
