The more he touts this not blocking his young talent crap as an excuse to field a cheap roster, the more it sounds like arrogance. PWWTBH was great when you were unloading trash, now it's the excuse of an arrogant GM who thinks every young player he has is going to be Tage Thompson rather than the Peyton Krebs we all saw them to be. |

No, I am not as that would not be true. While Toronto is in a vastly better spot than we are they can't get over the hump because of the mistakes of the past continue to haunt them to this day. They foolishly signed an aging vet without thinking about what is contract will do down the line. They then became a top-heavy roster. They've been playing catchup ever since and they can't make the moves that the need to make to get over the hump. The ghost of christmas future. Good GMs are ahead of the curve and not chasing it. - Slump Buster
Actually good gms are manipulating the cap to load as much talent on the roster as they can. Of course you can't be cheap to do that and you can't be small time.

No, he doesn't. If he did he would have been unloading draft picks this year in trades instead of making more draft picks. He isn't banking on anything other than a lot of these parts are going to come through and we are going to have a metric crap-ton of talent coming through here. If anything I would say that is the opposite of arrogance as he isn't banking on one or two players to save our franchise like we used to. If he was arrogant he would put on his TMGM cap and pretend that he is a master talent evaluator.

There is no "cap manipulation". You try to get good players to reasonable contracts. Sign your own first, sprinkle in vets later. Look to make hockey trades like The blues did with ROR. It isn't about being cheap, it is about being flexible.

I feel like you've been getting pretty upset at this whole team for not using Krebs to acquire Debrincat and it's just snowballed into an odd manifesto. It doesn't really make a lot of sense. |

So I've heard. I wanted them to. Trying to put myself in their shoes, I think they have a strong belief in some of their young top six players to where they would be uncomfortable paying a guy a 9x7. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just what is. |

Uncomfortable isn't the word, will not pay 9 mill is. We will pay our players in the next year or so before paying big money elsewhere. |

Well he's certainly held his ground and sticks to his guns regarding his team building philosophies. I would love to hear why we weren't interested though. He matches the timeline and the compensation was totally reasonable. Even projecting Tage, dahlin, power, I don't think it should be out of the question to take on one more elite winger. Or, maybe they have different ideas on how to spend that space. I dunno. |

They have a team of guys running 2-3 years down the line in projection scenarios, they should know whether or not a player of that ilk would fit here and also pay their own. |

Sad to see there are barely any Russians at the camp. I wonder if one or two like Kisakov will be late adds. |

Isn’t the cold hard truth that as of today it appears both Ottawa and Detroit have bettered their teams to both leap frog Buffalo in the Atlantic Division? This is going to be Adams third full season, even if the team is 10-15pts better than last year that is not good enough for playoffs and basically a 3 year season point average right on par of Murray and Botterill. At the end of the day results matter. |

As the roster stands right now, I believe we have the D & Forwards to compete Every single day. We have a poop ton of fire power offensively and with the addition of Powers full time our top 4 D looks solid.
Get a Tender and we are 100% playing in the Playoffs. I would be floored if Adams does not go out and get a capable tender. at the end of the day there are 3 teams really looking for tenders, Buffalo, Edm & Toronto. With the likes of ,Keumper, Campbell, Greiss, Holtby or trades for Murray (tried), Talbot, Gibson, Varlamov.
So what I am saying there are some capable NHL goalies out there. We will get one of them.
If I was GMKA, I would throw 3 years, 7 million to Campbell. |

Holtby might not play this year, 2 supposedly said NO already, rather have Tokarski than Greiss. One has a NSC and doubt Campbell only takes 3yrs |

Right - Toronto sent a first rounder to get rid of a single year of a bad contract. This year they then had to drop completely out of the first round in order to get rid of another contract. Both of the contracts that they had to get rid of paled in comparison to what it would take to get rid of Skinner with 2 - 3 years left. You can't get away with something like that in the NHL in this era. Hell, look at what Ottawa was going to have to give up to move Murray. - Slump Buster
This is very misleading.
And they are getting rid of the Marleaus and Mrazeks, not the Tavares or Matthews. If it's possible to bring in Kane, you do it.
