Taco has been the lead with the Kane rumor. He mentioned 90% chance of getting him.
I just mentioned that pegula is making this move. Not Adams. Adams is the middle guy in all this.
Patrick Kane is great. He just doesn’t fit the timeline or anything Adams has talked about
Will I be mad when we make the trade? No. But other trades need to happen and you are more in a “win now” situation.
Like Eichel and bringing in Hall. It’s forcing something that isn’t there.
As gerbe and 89 mentioned. They will be a budget team with a low cap number. If you get Kane. You need to start building / signing a legitimate good player or 2 and get a goalie
It messes up the Brandon beane methodology that Adams has taken - Sabretooth9
Frankly I don't get it. Maybe it jumpstarts some of these development paths. At least it would make the Sabres interesting. |

chicago has replaced us as the current biggest joke of the nhl - homiedclown
I don't think we've been in the top 5 (bottom 5?) of this list for a while. We may have some residual stank but we aren't in the same galaxy as Arizona, Chicago and Philly right now. I'd even say that we are in a better spot than many teams that have been middling over the last decade. |

This all makes a lot of sense. I wonder if TPegs is kind of like us in that his wallet was tight until a shiny new toy comes along. I would think that if he brings in Kane then the landscape will in fact change. It doesn't necessarily have to be a dramatic change.

I disagree, I think now is exactly the time we go out and get players like Kane or Malkin ect... Vet scorers who knows what it takes to get in the playoffs and win. I truly believe that we have the fire power to compete every night, we just need a Tender. And not even a stud, someone that can put up something like .915 S.P and a 2.68 GAA. I have a feeling we will be scoring this year at 3.75 goals per game we will will a shat ton of games...

I’m the king of waiting and developing, but if it’s a small cost (and only should do it if it is), long term it might help your guys developing showing you believe in them and are adding to try and win.
Maybe those guys try a little harder when you add a superstar like Kane. They expect to win then. That could get contagious. Sign Strome too to a three year deal. All of a sudden your forward group is pretty deep and you have a young up and coming stud D core.
Need a goalie still though… |

I get the P Kane was a Buffalo Kid, but do you really think he wants to play here now? I think it would be AWESOME and I believe it will push this team to the playoffs (providing they get a tender) but I just don't now if he would want to play here.

Yeah, that is what I got out of that convo with Adams.
My thinking is on pilut is that his KHL team is going to say they are releasing him or canceling his contract.
Then they might wait 6,8,10 months to actually do it. (Exaggerating the time line) - Sabretooth9
His Contract Has already been terminated

He is coming odd a 92 point season. He has plenty left in the tank.

We have 12 first and 2nd round picks between this draft, last, and next. We can afford to get him.
This is the time to acquire players like that. When the whole team is still on ELCs. |

We are prob not a bottom 5 team next year so we will miss out most likely with all those top of draft studs.
We won’t win a cup but a run to playoffs will be more valuable long term to our young guys then being like the 9th worst team.
With all that said, I’m not giving up my 1st next year. They can have two 2nds, Johnson and Olo. Throw a Russian winger in. Not giving up more than that |

Depends on who's making the trade
Adams or pegula
If it's Adams not a chance if he's coming here going to be a very underwhelming return |

I don't necessarily agree with this. Many people here wanted Malkin - I didn't want him because of his age and because I don't want him taking minutes at center that I want the kids to get (not to mention I think he has motivation issues). My concern is what it was with Debrincat - the important part of the timeline is that spot in 3 years when you have to pay our own while still paying Skinner.

I think Kane himself will decide this. He could do to them what Hasek did to us. |
