"Pilut signed a two-year contract with Traktor in June 2020 because the Sabres' previous management was initially unwilling to give him a one-way contract after he split two seasons between Buffalo and Rochester. When Jason Botterill's staff finally agreed to Pilut's request, it was too late. " - Hank Balling
Check the previous paragraph, when he completely botches the meaning of a two-way deal. He's making the rookie mistake of assuming a one-way deal is an NHL job.
"A source told The Buffalo News that the Sabres are "very interested" in signing Pilut and the left-shot defenseman is even willing to return on a two-way contract, which would allow the club to assign him to Rochester of the American Hockey League if he doesn't make the NHL roster out of training camp."

I think last season showed that the fans actually were fed up. But as soon as they showed a pulse in the second half, they started trickling back. - Powerslave
I’m not sold yet. This team forever & a day plays crappy the 1st half of the season then gives a glimmer of hope in the 2nd half. Typical Sabres. |

He definitely doesn't understand what a two-way deal means, but he's right about what the two-way deal actually meant for Pilut and why he left. It was widely shared here among insiders as well |

I think it was all about an NHL job and little to do with AHL pay, same as R2 and Antipin.

It isn't like the old Sabres where they would play below expectations only to play how they were supposed to play in the second half of the season. The team wasn't supposed to be good so the first half was about what it was supposed to be. It didn't help that we had the Eichel trade hovering over the organization.
That said, things went south in the first half when we had to go to our third, fourth and fifth string guys. Even good teams can't get over that. It is really impressive that our last few months were very good considering that the goaltending was at best average.

Strome wasn't Qualified - Buff36
His age, size, and position played fit the Sabres, especially on a short term deal.
Think of the height and skill of a Center group such as Tage, Strome, and Cozens.
Dylan Strome will reportedly not be tendered a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent.
He's an interesting option, a solid playmaker with efficient shooting who can drive play well. Played difficult second-line minutes. Worth a look for sure. #Blackhawks https://t.co/tGGCYGjbYX

I would certainly call his agent. Good age, #3 overall pick. Can’t hurt |

I get why a team like Seattle would make that signing. They are at least 5 years from being anything given the empty state of both their roster and their prospect pool. I think it would give them some respectability while they try to acquire more talent.
Makes no sense for us and I can't imagine that Boston could pay that much. Moving Ullmark would probably help them. Dominos? - Slump Buster
Didn't Seattle just draft Beniers and Wright in back to back drafts?
They also took another quality Center prospect in Goyette as well in the 2nd round this year.
They don't look weak on Center talent.
They might be in better shape then the Sabres as far as their top 2 Centers long term. |

From watching and going to games from October to the very last game of the season.
The Sabres as a team ….. made huge strides. I am not talking about playoffs. But as a group they made progress
I can’t tell you how many times our goaltending let us down. There was an article saying we lost out on 20 some odd points.
It’s probly more. Because the month of late December during the shutdown. Like 60% of the team came down with Covid and we basically sent an AHL roster out there and lost and sucked.
So if you take out Covid and having literally no goaltending
Just look at the kids. They got better. |

Is he some super exciting option?
Definitely not, but he fits in so many ways.
Feels like a solid short term option with potential upside. |

Good. I hope so. He had a cozy goaltending gig with the pens. Then chose to get paid and now can get chewed out by the Toronto media.
Fun career he’s had so far |

They did, but those players are the extent of their prospects. If I were them I would get Kadri to be the bridge to those two centers.

Smart move by Colorado. Get a good goalie on the cheap so you can keep other players.
