Chicago Blackhawks - No one ever looks good or wins when going through the painful process of stripping down a team. If seventh overall pick Kevin Korchorski develops into a stud, the ‘Hawks don’t look so bad. If Korchiski is something of the next Derrick Pouliot (bust of a Western offensive defender) well...Yikes. Lots of variance there, but Chicago makes the loser list for a lack of value. Debrincat is one of the best players in the league, they did not get a healthy return for him. Yes, I’m aware of his high potential qualifying offer in 11 months. It shouldn’t matter. If Winnipeg can fetch P-L Dubois for Patrik Laine (a more limited and less productive offensive winger), Chicago has to get more....Ditto turning the No. 3 pick in 2019 into the No 13 pick in 2022. That’s going in the wrong direction.

Tampa Bay traded a #3 from 2013 for a #9 in 2016, and that worked out very well for them.

Blue Jackets might of gotten 2 top 10 picks from us, but who did they end up drafting in front of us, a defenseman, that team seems to be always at square 1.

The draft is such a crapshoot. Many here (not you, imo) are already sure about some Hawks picks. If the 2024 3rd rounder they got for Cat becomes a perennial all-star, unlikely as it may be, KD will look just fine in retrospect.

Disagree. Kane showed no signs of slowing down last season. He can be a terror on a good team and worth every penny.

I'm still waiting to see his full plan which I'm expecting to transpire over the course of the coming season. But I am less than impressed with the return for ABD, at that price you keep a 40 goal scorer.

And at least seven must end up in the Hall of Fame.

While I'm less than impressed with the return as well, what if the endgame was to get Kane to waive his NMC so they could get out of the so called "mushy middle" which they were likely to be in if 12, 88 and 19 all came back for one more unproductive run?

That's not how markets work. If another team wanted Cat enough they could have (and would have) outbid Ottawa. The market sets the value. This board underestimated Hagel's value, so that trade make KD a hero. The board overestimated Cat's value, so KD is a moron. Again, NO participant in the market wanted to pay the Hawks more than what Ottawa paid - or else they would have done so, as the whole league was aware he was on the market.

to trade him to the Rangers - Colorado - or maybe Carolina
