Confirming #Oilers D Duncan Keith has reached a decision to retire, leaving Edmonton with lots of cap flexibility now. #Blackhawks will also be hit with a cap recapture charge, which was a difficult part of Keith’s discernment process.

Still hoping Drury goes with something off the radar and finds this off-seasons Zibanejad. Then again, Chytil could be someone else’s Zibby if he were traded so maybe it is better to just roll with what we got and find a 3C.

I would love for the NHL to adopt a one time contract negotiation during a current contract. This to eliminate buyouts and such.

Look at Toronto, would JT not be open to negotiation of his current deal? If he was making 7 or 8 and not 11 his contract would be where it should be.

There would have to be stipulations and it could only happen once. Say the mid point of the contract.

I hate the buyout and the player goes to another team makes even more money by sucking ass on thier current contract.

That’s what worries me about trading Chytil. It’s perfect time to let him ride as the 2C because he’s due a new deal next year. He’s either good enough or not and you have a whole year to see. He took strides in the playoffs, and big ones imo. He was a completely different player in my eyes (I think it’s pretty known how I couldn’t stand him lol) it just doesn’t make sense to not let him be that next year. Faceoffs is whatever. They can have other guys take them if need be. He should be Panarins center
