Russo reported the trade....of Talbot but didn't know who was coming back in return....I reported it first that it was Gustavson going the other way on Twitter...no picks involved....I had spoke to Gus's agent earlier and knew it was close....

One for one deal per capfriendly, no picks. Gus is magic beans. Talbot has put up .910 for each of the last 8 seasons but one. Plus the pipeline is stuffed with good looks in Sogard, Mando and Leevi. Ottawa has all the looks of a playoff bound team now. Crazy shifts, I'm really impressed by Dorion.

Dorion sure is. He must be on the hot seat, but he's making moves that could very well cement his job.

It has stabilized the goaltending....I like the trade....3 goalies are coming....Sogaard is close, another year in Belleville and he will be in Ottawa.

I like the trade...they had to do it....they got 3 goalies in the system....Sogaard will be NHL ready in a year....who cares if he walks as a UFA in a year....normally we agree....not on this one...great move!

Now all we need to do is get rid of Zaitsev, sign Giroux (he's gotta want to come here now), add a Marino/Weegar/Chychrun, sign the RFAs, maybe add another depth pivot, and we are set. Connor Brown and Brannstrom can be dangled.

As I stated, Mike had Talbot being traded but ZERO idea who was coming back, he didn't have a single idea, I was messaging with him and told I had posted it was Gus. I had the Gus contract last summer first too...due to my relationship with his agent!

When you are getting one start every month at times last year....you will be inconsistent....I had numerous convos with those close to the situation....there was no stability and development for him last year. I wrote a lengthy piece on it in March in detail about what was going on behind the scenes. He will be do just fine in Minny getting more consistent starts.

There are a couple of nights a week when the 3 of them are playing competitive soccer on the same night and one of them up an age group....has me running around....tonight is one of those nights lol.....but got a few things I will write later tonight! Gotta run!

This is a weird move. We just traded a promising goaltender for 1yr service of a 35yr old.

I was at the forefront saying the Sens need to upgrade in net if they wanna be a playoff team..but Talbot doesn’t move the needle enough for me to be confident in a playoff birth.

I understand the Sens have Goalie prospects coming up, but there’s 0 guarantee any of them make an impact.

If PD can bolster the blue line and potentially add another key forward..I could look past this move.

Still love the Cat move and Murray trade. Those two are blinding me a bit from this one.

With an extremely thin / competitive G market, finding a veteran guy that can solidify the crease a little is not all that easy. With the trade, the dollar amount is reasonable and PD only has to worry about a one year term. The last thing you want is another Murray deal. The Sens have goalies in the pipeline. They have time to figure the long term G scene out.

Yeah tbh I really like this move. Gus wasn't moving the needle. Sure, he could turn it around and I hope he does, but the Sens' G situation is far more stable with Talbot there. Why on earth the Leafs didn't look at Talbot is beyond me.
