Apparently the Habs had not even approached Romanov about a contract this summer. So perhaps this was not shocking or unexpected.
- Mashadar

sucks to see him go but it's a good move from the habs, you gotta appreciate the creativity. they knew Romanov would generate some interest from other teams, and he became a required piece to get the trade done.

they're aiming for a skilled team that can also be physically imposing, I like it.
- Pat1993

You need that in the playoffs ... the smurf era seems to be over in Montreal.

Like I said earlier.

HuGo knew they had Dach in the bag before making the #1 pick, so it became obvious they had their center and could go after who they thought the BPA was.

Good on them.

Will be fun to see how this turns out.

Yurov and Miroshnichenko still there for the taking... how much lower can they drop?

Losing Romanov sucks indeed but he kinda hit a wall offensively, me thinks. I don't think it's Drouin-Sergachev 2.0

Not the same type of talent. Great deal.

yeah, there are basically no goons left in the league but you still need guys that can move their weight around, speed alone doesn't cut it.

Will be interesting to see if the Russians are even taken in the first round, and if so, will thye be in jail before the second round starts tomorrow.

Well the fact they aren't already taken is the Russian factor.

The question is, how much lower can teams ignore so much talent?

Slaf, Dach and Anderson are all big boys ... we need them to compensate for Suzuki and Caufield's small size up front.

Can they risk losing a player to a minefield in Ukraine?
