I gave Benning 18 months before I turned on him.

But, I will say this. The “we want young players not draft picks” thing screams shortcut to me, and that is a mistake. Young players means paying a premium to get them, or getting lesser quality young players than what you would have drafted/developed. It’s a mistake and a red flag.

I dont disagree. I always want more draft picks and to build through the draft. However, if they say they want draft picks, yet have a bunch of untradeable contracts, and then can't get those draft picks, the fans get angry too.

We have had incompetency for 8 or 9 years with Benning, I think Alvin deserves a bare minimum of 2 years of making some sort of footprint before we start turning on him and some of his early decisions

Really doesnt feel l like miller will be traded at this point

Would rather have him traded for picks in the 2023 draft anyway. And a top 4 rhd.

This.

When they hired this group, at least 3 of us expressed concerns about these guys, Nucker, Vantel and I had some concerns and they are playing out as we had discussed.
It is only 6 months into the new regime, let's see how well they make out.

You don’t have to say “we want draft picks” or “we want young players”. You don’t have to say poop (frank) all about your plan. After you trade Miller you can simply say this was the best deal we could make for our team, and for JT who has been an excellent Canuck and we wanted to make sure he was in a place he wanted to be.

They are sort of damned if you do and damned if you don't. People hated on green for being a pompous little wiener and not saying much ever, then we get Boudreau who is as transparent as they come and the fans get all warm and fuzzy inside. Benning is completely transparent with his plans and gets fined 50k for being dumb. Alvin says "no comment" to trade speculation and people and media say "he sure is tight lipped about everything".

This market is just a different beast man.

How great is the Detroit rebuild going? Right? They have only drafted about 11 Swedes in the past 3 drafts.

I don’t know anything about any of these draft selections, I have no expectations. I’m happy to wait and see how Things shake out. My expectation is that they will make some changes over the summer and we will start to see the shape of things to come.

I just don’t want the short cuts to continue. I don’t want every player they select in the draft to be a lifetime Canuck. Bo Horvat shouldn’t be getting a long term deal because he’s the Captain, that’s horse poop. If he is the best player available for those $ then great, but if a trade is out there getting you futures, and you can use those $ better someplace else then you make that trade.

I'm disappointed. Mats Lindgren Jr. Was available. Born in North Van. Played with the Blazers. Dad was a former Canuck. With Quinn Schmeimann signing in Abbotsford there was familiarity.

Best Edgework on a Dman on any player I've watched live. Was projected as high as 35 and as low as 82.

I feel like I did when the Canucks passed over the newly minted CHL Player of the year Stankohoven in the second round. And I'm higher on Lindgren as an NHLer

4 points in 14 games when he joined the USHL after high school. Back to the BCHL a lower league next season?

I don't get the sense that this is happening at all, this group doesn't have any allegiances to anyone on the Canucks, if they extend Horvat or anyone just like Boeser was, it is because they feel he is in the plans going forward.

Just because there is a large contingent in here clamoring for this, that or the other may not be what this new management group wants.

If Allvin didn't bend over the barrel for Lou like Benning would have, is to me a great sign we have a determined group looking out for the best deals and interests for the club, not twitter or HB fans.

? I was right. Half the teams had DNF for Russians so I predicted they would fall hard. They did. I predicted Canucks would take a Swedish winger. They did. But this should have obvious to anyone that was paying attention. I aslo predicted Lambert would fall outside the 1st round. Pick 30. Damn close again nailed my predictions cookie gremlin
