I expect MORE from a NO 1 overall pick who never even made it to a goalie for Team Canada They NEVER trusted him and NEVER will. Too many gaffes He needs a shrink not a big contract

McGinn-Blueger-O'Connor

Puustinen, Bjorkvist, Poulin (one of them MIGHT make the team as an extra).

We have essentially Malkin, Rakell, Heinen and Rodrigues spots.

No need to sign any 4th liners.

I wouldn't give this kind of rumor any thought, but given it's LeBrun it really has me thinking...

Pierre LeBrun
@PierreVLeBrun
Minnesota, Toronto, Colorado (if Kuemper doesn’t sign), Washington and perhaps Pittsburgh all possibilities for Marc-Andre Fleury ahead of next Wednesday’s market opening. Obviously the Wild hope to re-sign him before that happens.

I'm not sure why the Pens would still be in on Fleury unless one of two things were being discussed:
1) They signed DeSmith to get ahead of the market and can trade him.
2) They're thinking of moving Jarry and signing Fleury to a two or three year contract.

I can't imagine why they'd trade Jarry, but if I had to stretch it, maybe they're concerned about being able to afford his extension next year?

While I agree that trading the 21st overall pick might be the best course of action at this stage of the Pens team, it's still kind of special and rare to have a 1st round pick in this era of Pens hockey hahaha

I am keeping my fingers crossed that Hextall realizes his ass is already on the line and he goes out and does something huge. The status quo has not worked so I'd appreciate seeing at least some effort to try something different, even if it fails.

Put together a massive package of multiple 1st round picks to get into the top 3 or 5 if one of the top 3 forwards drops.

Trade Jarry for a haul and sign Fleury.

Trade Marino while his value is at an all time high and replace him in trade of FA.

Find someone who might massively overvalue Matheson and bring back a huge return. Send our 1st, Matheson & Kapanen to NJ for the #2 pick.

Announce that both Letang and Malkin are resigned today.

Trade Zucker and some other assets for Tarasenko.

Trade Marino for Nylander.

Sell JR some of his old nostalgic stuff that we really don't need and get some value (Kapanen, Pettersson, Zucker, Poulin, Hallinder).

I just want one big win to come out out of the draft today and not just to end the night with a prospect who might help us in 3 years.

I believe this to be the most realistic scenario.

Trading Jarry and signing Fleury is my #1 bold play that I think they should jump at. Fleury wants to play here and like with Murray, I don't want to be tied down with Jarry long term and at a higher cap hit. I just can't believe that after the last 2 years they think this goaltending tandem will work.

He played in Edmonton in Jr's and Edmonton badly needs to do something with their goaltending situation. Holland is the GM... Fleece them!

The Leafs are another team I could see massively overpaying for him because his cap hit is favorable this season.

Fleury is not perfect but if you can trade Jarry and get Fleury to replace him you are net better off.

And yeah, all of those trade suggestions are things that I would be pleasantly shocked if they happened so the value on the deals favor the Pens.

Only makes sense if he’s cheaper than Jarry because he was poop in Minnesota

Not nearly as awesome as seeing Geno stay in a Pens jersey for the remainder of his career.

3 years at $3.5M would be perfect. I don't think he necessarily has to be cheaper. To me its a no brainer. Get a bunch of assets for Jarry and get a replacement goalie who is at the very least equivalent in performance.

What do you think Jarry would be worth on the trade market?

Edmonton:
a) Jarry and Kapanen for Edmonton's 1st and Puljujarvi.
b) Jarry and Pens 2023 2nd for Edmonton's 2022 1st, 2023 1st (lottery protected), Kassian and Broberg.

I like the idea of seperately trading Pettersson or Dumo and having someone like Broberg to compete with POJ for the last spot on LD.

Toronto:
a) Jarry for Nylander straight up. Nylander the better player but how much would Toronto value that cap space?
b) Jarry for Toronto 2022 1st & Sandin.

Similar situation to with Broberg, Sandin could compete with POJ for that bottom pair role and hopefully one of them is ready to step up into a top 4 role in another year.

I think that both can happen but if I had to choose, I would rather see Fleury come back for a few years and retire as a Pen.
