With Larkin already taking 71 I wonder what number Geno will pick. - Feds91Stammer
Ek said Detroit was in on Malkin so that means he sure as hell aint going to Detroit.
I think he wants to go to Nashville to be "the man". |

Amazing that Russia is conscripting NHLers and guys up to 40. That speaks to the problems they are having. They led a terrible invasion from a strategic perspective and it seems like a lot of those russian troops dont want to be there.
Scary as hell for NHLers. Amazed (but not really) that the NHL hasnt said a word. You'd think a country trying to force your Russian players into the military would call for something to be said.
Glad Hextall said Letang's contract is almost done. Seemed like he didnt want to commit either way on Malkin. - SuperHenderson13
Russia doesn't want these guys for military service, they want to take them away from entertaining the west. At minimum we're entering another cold war. In some aspects it looks like we're in a hot war.
As far as drafting athletes into military service.... We did it in WW2 and Vietnam. Not saying any of this to support Putin, but it shouldn't surprise that athletes are now caught in the middle. As a matter of fact, idiots in the west are/were demanding Russian athletes openly condemn Putin. As if that wouldn't be a grave mistake for an athlete or his/her family.

Weve been in an indirect conflict with Russia for some time. We are now openly supplying cash, arms, training and intel to Ukraine. Things are only getting started, this will become a larger conflict.
I agree it is stupid to demand they speak out, however OV going back to Russia to have fun in a soccer game during all this was pretty alarming.
I do wonder if GM's/owners are having 2nd thoughts on Russian player contracts with all this? Would they worry about a player affecting their brand? |

Anyone see the word from Rossi about Malkin being offered 2 years at 6 mil a year and hes willing to accept the 6 mil a year on a 4 year contract? Pens should just do the 4 years and call it a day. |

3 years. That's what's left on Sid's deal. Should be a slam dunk.

I don't think they'll worry about their brand. They may worry, correctly, about the availability of the players.

Definitely. Don’t give a poop about term, only care about cap hit. If we can get Geno in at 6 by adding an extra year I’m not thinking about it. |

I didn't hear that but if it's true it is just further proof Hextall is a jackass. Absolute no brainer if Geno is cool with $6M per. |

To be honest this is somewhat positive that talks are at least starting to heat up. Haven’t anything in weeks but now someone leaked a proposal to the media which means pressure is being put on by one of the sides (probably Geno given who reported it) |

I actually think they might care about that. If they sign Letang and a Malkin deal isn't done it will become a media talking point through negotiations.
Geno is very sensitive and I think the media playing a narrative that Letang was more important might weigh on things. |

If they get Geno and Letang tied up at $14M and the Pens are able to clear either Dumo or Pettersson off the books the Pens can do some damage in free agency. |

Boy you hate Hextall so much, you're calling him names even though you have no clue if true in the slightest. Obviously, someone with an unbiased opinion! |

Why do we need Copp or Malkin when clearly we are trading for the 4th overall pick like EK said previously? |
