Given all the games lost to chronic injuries from draftees like Patrick, Lindblom, Morin, and Foerster" (ntm our big trade for Ellis), I think the Flyers will be taking a pass on drafting anyone with injury questions/history....

To me there’s just much better skaters with more skill available. Gauthier just reeks of being a safe pick and this franchise badly needs to find high end talent. - hereticpride
Scored a lot of goals this year. I wasn’t sure early on but after seeing some of his highlights package I’m feeling better about him…..really hoping Cooley drops to # 5 ….but that may not be realistic.
Common Flyers... he should be there at 5th-overall... do it:

As I said this morning, this guy is my dark horse! Has an endless motor and good hands, and goes from zero to 60 as fast as McDavid does. If Cooley is off the board....DO IT!!

The stats seem to back up the highlights. I’ve never been a fan of taking the best player on the board. Go by need and right now we need a high skilled center with top 6 potential or a top pair, all situations defenseman.
I’ve read articles that have said that he’d love to play for the flyers some day but you never know. I’ve lived in Calgary and it’s nice but omg the taxes here in canada are crazy. That’s something many don’t think about but I’m sure players consider. If he indeed does have a fiancée from the area then I could see it going down. Tbh I’m anxiously awaiting the draft and ufa. I’d really like to be on the other end of this thinking, well. To my surprise we made some good moves and are on a better path with no youth having been sent out the door. One can hope. - Hextall271
He’s married. They have kid on the way. She’s a nurse at childrens in Philly. And from philly
Others have said the same thing. They’re about the same height and weight. Nazar admires Point’s style and Cooley admires Kane. The difference between them could be which one adapts and has better defensive play and play away from the puck. The coaches at Michigan and Minnesota are top notch and have good systems. They expect responsible play on both sides of the puck. The 200 foot play is stressed but balanced with an objective of not stifling elite players. I could see both these guys in the NHL in 23-24. I don’t know why but even though this is supposed to be a meh draft, I’m pumped.
I'm hoping Wright does not go first overall, add a little spice to the draft. I have this feeling forwards will go top 4, leaving the Flyers Nemec. - Trox88
I’d be fine with that. I like the idea of drafting one of the rhd.
Fletcher updated that Couturier is on schedule, feeling good and skating already. - jd250
Yep and so is Ellis. You continue to believe flyers. Amazing. Oh now don’t know if Ellis will be back at all this season so laughable this poop team. And yet you still believe.

Good post. I think Cooley stays 2 years of college. Not sure on Nazar.
This is an added element and everything I have read is Gaudreau's side is basically not returning the phone call of the Flames. - Trox88
Yeah. I’m reading that too. They’ve got to be pissed if that’s what’s happening but they weren’t going to trade him at the deadline as they expected a long run.

Losing both in the same offseason would be rough. They'll get significant assets for Tkachuk, but still. I was looking at career stats for Briere and St Louis. Briere's had really good production until age 34. St Louis scored 20 goals at age 39. My point is I would expect JG to age similiarly well. So an expectation of a minimum of 5 yrs of really good production.
