Is it sensible, life is what it seems
When you're living in a dream
Could you care enough while pausing on a thought?
Can you think of what you've got? (only you know what matters in your life)

What's different about last season and this season? Last season you weren't about less is more. Why was it not imperative last off season that the Flyers see what they have in these young kids?
- MJL

A few reasons: 1. the Flyers were only 1 year removed from being a game away from the final 4 in the league, 2. the Flyers were coming over a bad year that amplified some of real holes on the team that needed to be addressed, 3.the Flyers didn't have many young players in the pipeline that could fill those holes, and 4. AV was the coach and at the time was thought to still be in good standing with the team.

For these reasons I was in favor at the time of making some aggressive moves to push this team into the final 4. It didn't work out. G is gone. Jake is gone. Several other veterans signed last year are gone, and there is a larger pool of young prospects, several of which seem ready to compete for NHL jobs. Thus, now I would like to see Fletcher be patient and see what he has, while building through the draft and conserving cap space for when the team is ready again to take that next step. I think for example, getting DeBrincat right now would be horrible move in and of itself. The only way I would be OK with this move is if Fletcher decided to clear cap space by somehow trading several players and then signing JG also. But I just don't think the Flyers are in a good position right now to do this.

The mere thought of signing a 30+ player on a payday deal to THIS team is enough to tune out the next season before it starts.

They LITERALLY have learned nothing as an organization.

The Flyers weren't a legit contender last off season. Which is why Fletcher went out and made the moves he did. They were not a few moves away. The same young players that we have right now were the ones we had last off season when Fletcher made his moves. How does who the coach is change if the team should do less or not?

Don't be mean Skippy, its unbecoming. I'm sure Cliff appreciates your flirting, but he needs to be romanced. Maybe try some song lyrics. Do you know any that might work? Don't worry, we'll fix you two up soon enough.

You are so plastic you could be a Barbie Doll.
You walk you talk just like them all.
And, Oh how I love those pretty little curls,
With shoes and skirts, who's the better girl?

he's 29 years old, has 10 years of hard NHL miles on him, and he had a major back injury that required surgery and caused him to miss an entire season?

He definitely has some hard miles on him and has missed his share of games to injury. Until I see him play I don't see much reason to be more upbeat about his future than I am about Ellis'.

That’s a stretch. One will definitely be back. The other not so much.

noooo but it depends on who else is available
- 2Real

There’s no way picking Cutter at 5 makes sense imo. If you’re dead set on taking him for some reason move back to 10 and get a 2nd rounder back.

I still say go best player available regardless of position. At 5 I’ve got at least 8 guys ahead of him.

it really depends on who's there but if say nemec or another forward (won't say the name cause highly unlikely) is there and they pick cutter ugg it would be hard to get excited

i don't get the Moritz Seider comparisons for Jiricek they don't seem to have the same offensive skill at all

To me there’s just much better skaters with more skill available. Gauthier just reeks of being a safe pick and this franchise badly needs to find high end talent.

I am praying Nemec falls to 5. I just see him as an all situations dman who skates well, makes a good first pass, and can run the PP. He is a smart defender with high hockey IQ. And at 6'1" and 190(ish) he has decent size.

I feel like he has more offensive upside than Jiricek and is also a better skater. Great chance to be a top 3 perhaps top pair guy. I see a slightly bigger Timonen.

Add to that he may be NHL ready after playing against men in his previous league. He is also eligible to play at least in the AHL so I think he will be on the Flyers at some point this season.

That is, if he drops to us...
