I think he’ll end up here too. I’m assuming north jersey bad and south jersey good? Haha.

I’ve been to Newark to see a game. My god it looked like a war zone. Right up until we got tot the rink. Man.

well, just specualtion. But if he grew up a flyers fan i doubt jersey would be high on his list of destinations. And with some of the recent contract, i don't think he would need more than 9 mil. that's just too much imo. i could see 7 years at 8 mil maybe, but would prefer 7 years 50 mil if he's interested.

I think last year before the deadline, his agent read the tea leaves and told him he needs to take the pay cut.

It was funny to see those stories about how Ristolainen wanted to experience playoff hockey, and then he happily signs a 5 year extension with a bottom 5 team.

Night and day, for sure, as far as North and South Jersey. I grew up in SJ, moved from there 30 years or so ago, but have remained a die-hard Philly sports fan all these years. Great place SJ is to raise a family. I miss going to WAWA, though!

Yeah. It’s funny. I’ve been to Philly many times and the areas I’ve been to are very nice. Never over to south jersey but like I said Newark. I consider myself an honorary Philadelphian with the pain I’ve suffered while being a die hard flyers fan

No penalty if he retires or goes on LTIL
- wbroudy

I want to add that if a team would happen to get a number of quality young players on EL deals with performance bonuses. That could cause bonus overages that would have to be carried on the cap the following season.

I’ve read articles that have said that he’d love to play for the flyers some day but you never know. I’ve lived in Calgary and it’s nice but omg the taxes here in canada are crazy. That’s something many don’t think about but I’m sure players consider. If he indeed does have a fiancée from the area then I could see it going down. Tbh I’m anxiously awaiting the draft and ufa. I’d really like to be on the other end of this thinking, well. To my surprise we made some good moves and are on a better path with no youth having been sent out the door. One can hope.

Is it a list of one?

I’ve been wondering a lot what the chances are that coots can rebound after the surgery. Doesn’t sound good at all. I’m hopeful that bee can make it back without lingering effects. What an offseason holy f.

What information is there that it doesn't sound good concerning Couturier?

Thankfully I haven’t seen those parts. Someone did tell me that the area around the rink in Newark is a lot better now which is great. A friend of mine from here in Canada is an equipment manager for the devils and we’re prob going to see a game some time soon there.

Funny note, the memorial cup was just here in my home town and the local team won. My friend the equip manager for njd told me Brent flahr was here for the tourney and he met up with him. I said how do you know him? Apprently his first nhl gig was in minny and it was chuck and brent that hired him for the wild. I told him to tell Brent to sort my team out and fast! Haha

I do think JG signs for over 9 million/yr. He's a career pt/ game player. Everything I have read suggests this will be the last season of a flat cap. So in theory % of cap should go down significantly in the next few seasons. I do think JG will age pretty well. He knows how to protect himself on the ice.

Hayes signed for 7 years $50M lol. JG next contract absolutely starts at $9M per at the minimum.

If he retires is there any sort of penalty for us?

Why would he retire and give up 4 yrs of salary??. He is not retiring

I hope we make a selection at #5. Even if we traded for DeBrincat and/or signed Johnny G., we still have holes to fill. I am not convinced that we have anyone on our roster that will be able to compliment either of these two players and help them get to 40 goals.

Not related to the above, but keep an eye on Josh Anderson. Supposedly he is on the market. I'd love to have him. He's not the answer but he would be a nice piece.

- cdearth23

Anderson, Mason Marchment and Colin White could be one helluva 3rd line!

To me it’s just the nature of the injury. As I understood it, he had surgery to a disk in his back correct? The last update provided by the team I believe stated that they expected him to be ok to start the season but I could be wrong.

Just a wording, meant more as could no longer play. There was a follow up question, keep going before you get your panties in a bunch.

he's 29 years old, has 10 years of hard NHL miles on him, and he had a major back injury that required surgery and caused him to miss an entire season?

And Philly is better or safer??? JG isnt going to be living near the rink. If he chooses team based on quality of roster and chance for playoffs it will be NJ which is a good thing for Flyers..

I do agree, it will be more front loaded with money paid out in the first few years compared to the back end of the deal. My assumption would be 7 yrs between 9.5 and 10.5/yr.

We should definitely trade for Burns. I think our 2024 second round pick should do it.

Mike Greier is San Jose’s new GM? I always wanted him as a player. I didn’t know he was still apart of hockey.
