As I already explained. Jg deal is done. He’s coming.

I would be shocked if he doesn't come here or NJ. I am sure that he's been talking to Hayes and Atkinson about how great it would be to come here and play with fellow BC alum..

I just don't think that's their plan. I want no part of a youth/picks/prospect gutting trade for debrincat. If they're going to bring someone big in, at least JG won't cost the youth on top of hitting the cap.

Regardless, if we have no number 1 dman, which to me it sounds like we won't with Ellis' situation (which is beyond frustrating that there's been next to no progress) we are pooched anyway. This is likely the hole they need most to fill in order to ice at least a playoff bubble team.

I don't disagree. I have doubts that Ellis will play at all next season.

It doesn't sound to me like he will. If he hasn't been on the ice etc then he's nowhere close after what like 8 months?

If he retires is there any sort of penalty for us?

So how will the blue line go? Btw, I believe Ellis's career is over.

Do they go with a young guy like Zamula or Attard and find a vet Dman better then Seeler. Maybe a Nick Leddy or Justin Schultz type UFA?

I don't know. MJL surely knows the rules.

I highly doubt he'll retire though - that's a boatload of money he'd be leaving behind.

IMO there is no way they have York and/or Zamula/Attard in the lineup to start the year. They will get a vet

Dont forget Seeler. If he is in the top 6 to start then just a disgrace.

York didn't particularly enjoy playing RD and prefers to stay on the left side moving ahead, except if the team is in a bind.

He's not going to retire. There would be no penalty if he did.

I full well expect the Flyers to then move him to the right. He made that pretty clear.

If he can’t play he just goes on LTIR forever? If he can’t play again, are there cap ramifications or would we essentially get cap relief one way or the other from his contract.

As with any player with a long term injury, the Flyers could place him on LTIR to get the exemption to replace him if replacing him puts the Flyers over the upper limit. He could also be a trade candidate in the current cap environment. Although that would be limited due to the term still left and the 29.3M still owed to Ellis on his contract.

Bill, do you see one of Provorov or Sanheim getting moved this summer? Any word on an extension for Sanheim. I feel if they can't get an agreement on that now, they should move him now and not risk losing him for nothing.

I hope we make a selection at #5. Even if we traded for DeBrincat and/or signed Johnny G., we still have holes to fill. I am not convinced that we have anyone on our roster that will be able to compliment either of these two players and help them get to 40 goals.

Not related to the above, but keep an eye on Josh Anderson. Supposedly he is on the market. I'd love to have him. He's not the answer but he would be a nice piece.

I wouldn't put anything past Fletcher but the Flyers already have issues with the defense. There better be a defenseman coming back if he does.

Sanheim should have significant value at the trade deadline. Ideally, they need to re sign him. With JVR coming off the cap, Elllis potentially going on LTIR. and a belief it will not be a flat cap next season, no significant hurdles to re sign him if he is willing.

@AZadarski
Upon hearing about the arrest of Ivan Fedotov, Kirill Kaprizov reportedly immediately returned to the United States. His name is linked to fraudulent military IDs being sold to players, including Fedotov, and Kaprizov is now wanted in Russia, per Sport-Express.

So CSKA players were paying their way out of military service or something?

I want them to draft high in 2023 but will they, even if they dont add? I really think most younger players will take a step forward this season, Coots, Hayes and Cam all have something to prove. With Torts, Hart will be better, no moves, I still think they finish out side the playoffs but pick in the teens, how does that help? We will be back to slow and grow. Only thing I think works, you play the team you have, hope Coots is back to being Coots, you unload him mid-season for a good return, then pray Hayes and Cam greats seasons and dump them anyway you can. Pray the 2nd half of the season you end up in the bottom 5-10 of the league.

If not, you might as well make smart FA adds and good hockey trades.

The problem with that, is if the Flyers happen to be fighting for a playoff spot, they won't pull the trigger on a deal and then potentially lose the player for nothing.

The way I see it, even if the Flyers don't move either, they still have to add a defensemen. Can't go into the season with Risto being your top RHD. So they may need to add two.
