It’s hysterical that Bill schools you on the “back channel indirect conversations” and then you are all knowing a couple days later. The fact is you don’t really have the slightest clue what happens in these conversations or pre free agency. - ClaudeFather
Bill didn't school me on anything.

Ottawa would want to send some salary back is my guess. Zaitsev is that cagey RH vet Chuck craves!!!! - hello it's me 2050
Zaitsev and Risto on the same blueline... I guess that's one way to get Bedard.

Not at 5! If the Flyers trade down to pick up a few extra picks then it makes sense. - jd250
Even more than most drafts, it's not gonna follow the "consensus". There will be teams that will consider Nazar with a top-10 pick, because he's just that talented. Top-5 isn't really a stretch either. The gap between him and Cooley isn't that great, if there even is one.

I've talked up half the 1st-round prospects |

Voracek was uncoachable.
You want to talk about which player wants to be more “comfortable”?
Giroux only wanted to go somewhere he could win (too bad it didn’t work out)
Voracek? He was happy to go back to… COLUMBUS? Familiarity, no winning environment, no pressure. |

both were malcontents. - hello it's me 2050 Yes, extremely soft and uncoachable players. Also known as coach killers. Ghost wanted to free lance and didn't want to be coached, and Jakey only played when he felt like it. |

Here is the deal.
Having informal conversations through intermediaries happens all the time. Having a player speak to the GM of a team and reaching a deal does NOT. Teams are not going to risk that kind of penalty. It doesn't happen without the permission of the players current team.
MJL is right. You are wrong.

Couple of things... Jake thrived under Hitch as a kid and had his best seasons under hard ass Berube. Dunno how that happens if the guy is "uncoachable".
Flyers don't exactly have a winning environment or even winning expectations. The team is an afterthought. We need to stop acting like it's hard to play here, when the truth is it's one of the most relaxed country clubs in the league. The only real annoyance is the local media. |

I am hoping for 1 of the top 2 D or Cooley or Cutter. Don't know much about Nazar, just that most rate him in the mid teens. Seems a reach for top 5.
It sucks that the World Jrs are in August this year, missed showcasing a bunch of these kids. |

The last handful of seasons with us he just went rogue too often, not interested in the system and either turned it over at the blue line trying to skate through guys or make low percentage passes in the offensive zone. I’m sure you’re right about his play as a kid but the player I saw was one that grew up, had a couple high scoring seasons and then decided he knew better than everyone else and was going to do it his way.
Maybe “winning environment” was the wrong phrase lol that’s certainly not Philadelphia right now - but do you really think the pressure from the media is anywhere close in Columbus? If I recall his relationship with some media here in Philly seemed to be draining him. |

Not both, but I would trade TK for the 7th pick. - jd250
I would not, TK still grades out as a 2nd line, almost first line play driving winger and that is on the shxt show known as the Flyers. Even the 7th pick has no promise of where TK is now. Now, next season draft, I would hand to look at the players |

Seen some of the rankings and he seems to be late teens. I like the skill set but are the picks all that close, from 5-19 |

Jake wasn't the only one going rogue, tho. Almost everybody was going rogue, on both ends of the ice. It's been a long time since the Flyers consistently were on the same page as a team.
I don't think the media pressure in Philly is that big. The town is mostly focused on other sports. The media personalities themselves can be annoying, but Jake pretty much mastered the art of smacking them down when necessary. He wasn't gonna make decisions on or off the ice based on any fear of Mike Sielski writing another hot take.
The only real media pressure in the NHL is in Canadian markets, where the NHL is given NFL-levels of attention. Everything gets picked apart and even 4th-lines and bottom-pairs are under the microscope. |

there is no media pressure in Philly when it comes to hockey. Zero. Zilch.
Jake is a player you will never win with. Must be a reason Columbus was the only team wanting him last summer.

LOL, you can't even remember what you said a little over an hour ago. You did not say if all things are equal. That's how you've changed yours stance after you've been educated. Here is what you said.
"I would not pick a winger in the top 5 if there a top defenseman and centers still on the board.: - MJL
You are moron sometimes, you really are. Try reading what I stated before you spew crap! I stated as you posted, you don't pick a winger if there are TOP defenseman or centers still on the board! |

Speaking of Cooley, I was watching his highlight package this morning and I would be ecstatic of the Flyers landed him in this draft. However I really think he will be gone before 5. |

Best high school basketball team ever. Thorpe was the straw that stirred the drink.
