To Ottawa: Konecny, Lindblom
To Philadelphia: 7th overall, Jacob Bernard-Docker, 2022 2nd rounder
Flyers clear money off cap, get 7th overall, get a defense prospect who might be close to NHL and add 2nd rounder this year.
Ottawa gets top 6 winger they want and also another solid top 9 winger as they look to start competing. - J35Bacher
Ottawa would want to send some salary back is my guess. Zaitsev is that cagey RH vet Chuck craves!!!!

I think defenseman and centers are more valuable than wingers, and typically how you build a team, i.e. build down the middle. As I said, if the top defenseman and centers are off the board, then sure, you pick the best player available. - jd250
I agree they are but that doesn't mean you draft a lesser player because of it. That's what you're missing. You don't bypass the best player available to draft by position.

Doesn’t matter, tampering, informal conversations, it happens. You’re arguing up hill again. Bill had to explain it to you a few blogs ago. - ClaudeFather
This isn't going to work for you. As has been explained to you already, most likely the Flyers had permission to work out contract details in advance from Nashville. You don't understand what tampering actually is. Back channel indirect conversations certainly happen. I'm sure tampering does also but rarely.

Would make a ton of sense. Package around Provorov and Konecny for the 7th and maybe something else. Add another high end player, clear cap, and set the team up to tank for the 2023 draft. That’s the smart forward thinking play instead of let’s just throw crap at the wall and hope the dimwits will keep buying season tickets. - psuhockey
I would not trade Provorov and Konecny for the 7th in this draft.

Of course, especially at the top of the draft you pick the best player available. All I am saying if all things are equal, like the top of the draft is this year, I think position plays more of a factor. |

No .. you are wrong.
Last off season the Flyers had clear needs, specifically a top pairing RHS defenseman, another top 4 physical defenseman, a backup goalie and depth at center. The Flyers also had a clear locker room problem from players like Ghost and Jake; there was definitely a malaise over the team that needed to be addressed. Fletcher learned from the previous season that he put too much pressure on young players that were not ready to play big roles on the team, so he tried to fill those gaps with veteran players instead while also trying to fix the locker room issues by injecting new players into the mix. Fletcher was addressing the right issues, but clearly did not do so for a number of reasons, which includes AV not being able to recover from his previous season with the team, a ton of injuries and to be honest some bad moves, like trading for Risto and signing Yandle. What happens next is to learn from that off season and make sure you don't make the same mistakes again this off season. That is what I hope Fletcher and his staff will do, take a step back, let their younger players who are ready play and lets see what we have before we make any more rash decisions. - jd250
LOL. The Flyers have the same clear needs this year as last year. Gostisbehere and Voracek being a locker room issue is a figment of your imagination. The Flyers are in the same exact position this year that they were last year.

Actually you could argue they are worse this year than last year, based of course on the status of Ellis, Farabee and Couturier. Jake asked to be traded, he did not want to play for AV. Ghost likewise publicly admonished AV for his unfortunate statements about Carter Hart's work ethic. They needed to be moved. I know Torts stated he thought the locker room was splintered, but Fletcher did not agree with him, so its not clear if there are issues in the locker room or not. |

LOL, you can't even remember what you said a little over an hour ago. You did not say if all things are equal. That's how you've changed yours stance after you've been educated. Here is what you said.
"I would not pick a winger in the top 5 if there a top defenseman and centers still on the board.:

They didn't need to be moved and it was a mistake to move both in the way they did. The Flyers are in the same position today that they were in last off season. Maybe one day you'll get that. |

It’s hysterical that Bill schools you on the “back channel indirect conversations” and then you are all knowing a couple days later. The fact is you don’t really have the slightest clue what happens in these conversations or pre free agency. |

No, its not better to get worse results, at least he trying, i would be more upset if he just came back with the same group. Everyone knew something was broken and couldnt keep bringing the same group back. And we have a #5 pick for it now, thats a positive. I think the only reason we were worse is due to injuries and not the moves he made. Ellis and Couts had a huge impact. Arguably our 2 best players.
