Chychrun isn't exactly strong defensively either.
It kind of became both Muzzin and Gios roles last year, which I think is paramount. You need defensively stability across 3 pairings, or the opposition just bukkakes the weak link. - joel878
I think Chychrun is more than fine defensively.
So looking at the pairs I put forth earlier, Chychrun on Rielly's side, Gio and Liljegren both, and Brodie on Sandin's side, that's decent defensive play on all pairs.
Plus, Brodie seems to work magic with whoever he's with. Guys get better with him. Except for Holl, who is a complete lost cause. |

They're gonna need more of it though going forward with all the key guys they're gonna lose. Let us remember lots of important FA and now 3 less picks..
Say what you want about Kads.. no way they replace his production or that of Burakovsky's either for that matter... And Manson gone.. Avs are going to look vastly different and weaker next yr.

Manson was a deadline add, no reason they can't do that again. I'd agree they will be different but I don't know about weaker. Mostly because I'm reminded of how (frank)ed everyone determined they were last summer when they were going to lose Landeskog and Grubauer.

I think Chychrun and Rielly would have the makings of being a defensive nightmare. Which is why I don't think Chychrun fits, because we have Rielly and I haven't known him to play the right.
Honestly, I would like the blueline we have now minus Holl and Sandin more. Just my preference. 🤷🏻♂️ |

I completely disagree with the bolded. Chychrun is much better defensively than being credited for.
Your line after the bolded, if you're referring to Chychrun playing the right side, he does it regularly. If that's not what you meant, my bad. Read it way wrong.
To be fair, the subtraction of Holl makes anything look better. |

The Blackhawks are still actively trying to trade Alex DeBrincat to get into the first round tonight. At this point, the sense I get is it'd be a bigger surprise if they *didn't* trade him than if they did. |

I go to probably 5-6 Arizona games a year, perhaps my timing is poor but I've never seen him play the right. I'm not one for forcing left handers to the other side at all. Of all the times I've seen him play live, I've never walked away thinking he's any better defensively then Rielly. He's a good skater and offensively skilled but not the type of defenceman we need in my opinion. |

They won a cup. Doesn't matter what happens next year. As fans I think we've been jaded by Tampa and Penguins of the back 2 back wins.
If they make the playoffs, who cares what happens?
