Cap in would be:
Giroux - 4.25
Chyrun - 4.6

Cap out would be:
Willi 6.96

+ cap of 1.95

Maybe they then look at moving Muzzin out for pics and/or prospects which would give them about 3.6m extra for a goalie and supporting players.
But does Giroux + Chyrun +3m in cap make the leafs better than having Willie and Muzzin?

That gives forwards in the system, two years to develop to replace Giroux.

I thought it was a pretty expected price point for a guy who hasn't really proven anything by his age and just had a really bad year behind a pretty good team.

I imagine the insurance companies are more stringent than the NHL is for cap purposes. I doubt Chicago got Hossa paid for by insurance.
