If he's still on the board, I hope they take him.

I think he's got 1C potential and imo we have plenty of middle six guys, need to swing on guys with that high skill 1st line upside, despite the boom or bust potential.

Anyone take a looksie at the schedule? Starts out tough. Super Bowl weekend could be sweet. Flames throttling on Saturdee and a Dallas drubbing on Sundee. Like they got way less Sundee games this year.

Really wish they’d go back to the old playoff format. It was awesome playin the Flyers every year for a decade.

The schedule also includes a Thursday night game vs the defending av's at 7 , while the Bill's play at the same time 825 in foxboro....

Playing the chicago Blackhawks the night before the green bay Packers home game and also the night after on Halloween.

1 leafs home game..

All the more reasons to take a chance on a Russian or two in the first round

4 picks in the first 41 is pretty exciting.

Seems like a good time to roll the dice and still make a few consistent picks as well.

Spot on!
This is hopefully the last time in many years that the Sabres are in a position to draft 1st line talent.
Swinging for MIro is the type of move I am expecting Adam's to take.

I read this morning that Russian men are expected to serve 1 year in the Military between age 17(18?) - 27. Draft Miro, ask him to serve his 1 year immediately and use that time to also build back his health and strength. Come to camp in 12 months to begin the process to re-develop his hockey skills in the A.

Are you reading into the fact that the Sabres did draft heavily Russian last draft?

I realize the war has changed things, but do you think the Sabres/ world anticipated some conflict last season?

If they did anticipate an invasion or unrest, I could absolutely see the Sabres picking more russians IMO

Welp, certainly they have proven with their previous drafting they don't have prejudices against Russian prospects.

If top 10 ranked prospects based on talent and potential like Yurov and Miro slip due to Russia's invasionary war; to me it simply represents an opportunity to exploit. It isn't risk free by any means.

I took Jiricek, then traded 16 and 28 and 2023 2nd to nab Gauthier @10.
My plan then would be to monitor how early Yurov goes to gage where I think it would be necessary to trade up to select Miro 41, Johnson and whatever else (reasonable) to go after Miro (20 -23?)

Walk away with Jiricek, Gauthier, Miro..go home early after the 23-ish pick, lol.

Yes , completely agree....

Just wondering if there was/ had been eminent threat of war prior to our 2021 draft picks.

Gotta guess, maybe teams steered clear last season too?
Adding value to our past picks....

If this was football and we were drafting 3 starters in the 1st round that might need to serve....
That's a bit different....

But these kids wont be available regardless for a fee years with their development curve.

Per Elliot Friedman. Sabres tried to get Matt Murray and he blocked the trade. We are on his No trade list

Hearing OTT & BUF were deep into conversations about a Matt Murray trade. Sabres are on his No-trade list, and Murray — as his his contractual right — stuck to his list.

Per Friedman Murray won’t waive to come to Buffalo. Deal was pretty much done.

He still needs to get someone first. That’s the issue. The team still has a bad stigma around it (it was earned). When you have a goalie a team is trying to give away refusing to waive it’s still a bad look.

This season is important to not only develop the players but change the stigma around the league with Buffalo.

Anyone looking at the schedule yet?

Looks like the Sabres start off easy at home vs Ottawa, day game against Florida.
Hopefully take 3 points

Then out west,
Take another 5 out of 8 points

Home for a 4 game stint
6 out of 8 points...

14 out of 20 points

5-3-2 start 100 point pace

So does this put to bed all of the female dogging that KA was satisfied with his goalies? He said that he planned to bring in more people and apparently he meant it.

Should be a terrible stigma, 11 years without the playoffs

Kinda a guy kick when one of the teams worse than us , wont waive.

Can the Sabres brass reach out to Murray and sway him?

Maybe with the sens permission?

I was thinking the same thing.

The downers around here will probably be more down with the rejection....

(shrug) This might not have anything to do with us. Guys sign somewhere and expect to stay at that place. Dadonov didn't want to go to the Ducks. MAF didn't want to go to Toronto.

Ottawa was more of a mess when they signed him than we are now. This stigma thing is overblown.
