Sabres can absorb now and into the future Gibby's contract...it is far from ideal, but they can do it by having cheap/ELC level goalies behind him .. UPL for 2 -3 years, then Levi or whomever when the Cap goes up. Just manage the combined hit below $8m.

I'm certain he's had conversations. He's had intimate knowledge of the situation for probably months if not at least an entire year. After his season end and he wasn't ready to go all in, contingencies were created. The problem is, you need to work out a deal with a team he likes. And that deal needs to be better than a third round pick.
