So anyone see McKenzie's mock draft. He has Cooley dropping to 5 for the Flyers. That would be a very favorable pick. McKenzie is usually pretty good on these things.

MON - Juraj Slafkovsky
NJ - Shane Wright
AZ - Cutter Gauthier
SEA - Simon Nemec
PHI - Logan Cooley

Everyone is always constantly battling over the Flyers prospects and their development. It always comes back to a long list of their injuries and/or set backs.

Can we at least list the prospects that have succeeded without having these injuries and/or set backs?

What everyone is afraid of is....that list is EXTREMELY small.

If Cooley falls to the Flyers then maybe their luck is changing...until he gets injured and/or has a setback like the rest.

He's not going to be McDavid, but he will be at least someone the Flyer fans can be excited about.

Yes, DeBrincat is a good player, but is he the type of player you pay $9M per for? I wouldn't do it. Its not so much that he is small, but he is a small player that if he joins the Flyers becomes part of an already small forward group. Where is the size in this lineup? I think Fletcher talked about this in his last presser, when he mentioned that what both Tampa and Colorado have is tons of speed and skill wrapped up in players with size and strength. Yes Tampa has a highly skilled player like Point, but he is the exception, not the rule.

In terms of size, if you have a number of smaller forwards, which one do you keep?

It's not just about if you pay a player like him 9M. It's if it is the right time to pay a player like him 9M.

This is what I was referring to earlier when I posted that I believed players like Risto will be much better in Tort's system because its a simpler system that plays to Risto's strengths, i.e. covering high danger areas and blocking shots. And yes I agree the best defense is a good offense.

Ristolainen won't be much better. He'll be better hidden and his weaknesses won't hurt the team as much. Ristolainen is not strong in coverage.

He was better earlier in the season but I agree as the season went along he was not as consistent. Not sure if it was an injury or just the state of the team as the season wound down. I will say this, Torts will be on his butt if he is not engaging in the right way consistently.

If the Flyers at 5 have their choice of Jiracek, Kemell or Cooley, that would be a very nice outcome for the Flyers. I don't know for sure, but I think the Flyers right now value the center position more than other positions, so I would think they would select Cooley.

They’d also be admitting that Hextall wasn’t as good as they like to think he was.

What a meteoric rise by Gauthier, incredible. With AZ playing in a college arena and all those picks, going for the extreme high ceiling prospect could make sense.

If Cooley is on the board and the Flyers don't take him they need to fire Chuckles on the spot! It's a no brainer that this guy should be just what the doctor ordered. My sleeper pick would be Nazar. I was going to say Gauthier, but apparently the word is out on him. Probably all for naught cause Chuckles will trade the 5th pick to get Debrincat here and then they will overpay him to add him to the collection of smurfs that already play here. Thanks!

That seems to be already shot down. 5th overall is not in play for him.

I don't feel that he has been good at any point as a Flyer. An occasional good game but that's about it. He remains extremely mediocre.

Do you believe that a GM has the ability to see or predict that a young healthy player is going to have injury issues in the future?

For example, should Hextall have foreseen that Wade Allison would constantly get injured in the future?

Hextall was mediocre at his drafting, and that is being generous. All those 1st round picks and look what we have to show for it.
