Trade that would make perfect sense for both teams but the sens won’t do because they can’t help out the Leafs because their fanbase would blow up in temper tantrums
Kerfoot(750K salary) for Brown with cap retained. 30% would be 2.5M cap and 2.8M in actual salary.
Leafs save cap space and Sens save real dollars. - Santo_44
Hard pass, Kerfoot a usefull player that could get a return, Brown a player Leafs threw away, that would be a third/fourth liner. Would add up to trading an asset for something much less.

Huh. I'd disagree on that. I think Brown is more versatile and useful. He's a ferocious penalty killer with an offensive upside on the PK. He wins board battles and is fast. I'd take him over Kerfoot 10 times out of 10.
Ottawa wouldn't do the trade for that reason. Yeah, they'd save a bit of money - they'd be paying out $2.25 vs. $4m using Santo's suggestion, but by both giving the Leafs cap help and at acquiring a useful player who isn't quite as versatile as Brown, they'd be losing in the deal. What's their incentive?
