Maybe. I'd say at between 4-5M per year is still what defenders of his calibre and age are getting on the market.

Vegas traded and Van got rid of Schmidt at 6m for a 3rd. OEL equal too Schmidt, so keep 1.25 and get a 3rd then

He started out really well. Drafted a lot of good players, caught the "we are close" bug and started trading away lots. Missed on a few picks. Lost team chemistry. Coach quit mid season.

Ran into cap troubles.
