Wouldn't it just be delightful and hilarious if teams like Montreal (14 picks in this year's draft) and Chicago or Anaheim or Arizona offer sheeted the hell out of the Leaf's young cheap players like Sandin and Engvall - RFA's they can't afford to offer much in salary increases to.

And even funnier if the Leafs open up cap space and Matthews goes UFA next year and Chicago sign him.

The longer this goes the more I think a team like the Ducks will come in and offer their #1 2022 (10 overall), 2 2nd round 2023 (theirs and Boston's) and Perrault for DCat. And to be honest, I would not be that upset with that. Would love to get more, but thinking that is as good as it gets. Thoughts?

Not knowing how well the new KD era evaluates, drafts and then develops a fan is kinda flying blind. I wonder would a trade for Dcat of say all 3 of BUF's 1st rd picks be better than say NJ 2nd overall, a real blue chipper in Holtz and a 2nd rounder?

More mid/late 1sts or a real high 1st and a blue chipper? Quality or quantity? Right now all things considered I'd go quality over quantity for Dcat.

If the Ducks were sellers at the trade deadline last year, no way they make this offer

Yzerman give up futures for a player, no way, he was willing to walk away from Stamkos.

How often has, and will in the future, a 2 way, gritty, fight for his mates, twice netted 40 goals, top 10 in goals in the NHL over a last 3-4 yr span all at 24 yrs old become available?

Kinda opportunity any sane GM runs by his staff at the very least. Kinda player that fits any time line a franchise may have. Win now or in 2-3 yrs, he fits. Kind of rare opportunity that is worth tweaking an organIzational plan for.

What doesn't fit is saying "no way" to scrubbing the possibility.

Hawks should have no problem with Jones, only see them moving him if they want to dump salary. Performance wise he is meeting expectations on what they wanted when they acquired him.

Agreed. I had very low expectations, and they have definitely been met.

I can understand if those teams were one piece away but all of them are many many pieces away.

Twas the night before the NHL Entry Draft and KD wasn't stirring in bed,
He knew some deals go down and good for us, else we just draft some kids
Surely Scott on hockeybuzz had some trade proposals,
Maybe he should be given the hot line to KD,
Alas, there is no Easy Button,
Not expecting much
Not Christmas in July
Know what I mean

New blog! A final preview to the NHL Draft with today possibly having fireworks for the Blackhawks as general manager Kyle Davidson still seeks to get back into the 1st round.

Plus, updates on Alex DeBrincat, Seth Jones, Duncan Keith, and goalie options as well as yet another IceHogs player signing.
