I don't know, man. The Leafs' roster has had as much churn as any other team out there. I don't think any of us can say how 'loyal' he is or isn't. That just sounds like fan fiction to me.

The way I see it, they were one of the best teams in the league and were an OT shot away from knocking out Tampa. A year earlier they were an OT shot away from knocking out the Habs who went to the SCF. So if they went on a run or won the Cup next year, I don't think it would be a big surprise. The Habs' run was a surprise. But it's like when St. Louis or Washington won after being good for some years, it wasn't a shocker.

In that sense, yes, he's rolling with his big 5, barring some major change this summer. I honestly think if it wasn't for the cap though, Kadri might still be here, as would Freddy and Hyman. I don't believe he got rid of those guys because they weren't 'his guys', I think the Leafs had to make some hard calls in a cap league like everyone else. Some of those calls like Kadri look like mistakes now, others like letting Hyman go and getting Bunting, Kase and Kampf look like good moves.

Well, he did trade Kadri, and traded for Campbell, Foligno, Muzzin, Gio. Signed Tavares...fired Mike Babcock...I mean those are not minor changes.

I wouldn't be upset at all if he traded the first this year though.

The two top teams in maxing out salary for their top 6 players are the Leafs with their top 6 taking home 65.04% of the entire cap and Tampa with the top 6 earning 64.99% of the cap. Numbers are almost identical. Difference is on goalie payroll with Tampa having their goaltender at the top of their payroll. Leaf goalie is not in top 6.

Tampa moving McDonagh is significant. He is part of the top 6 on the cap at $6.75m. His place on the top 6 cap hits for the Bolts will be taken by Sergachev at $4.75m.

I feel like maybe he is the west coast version of Mik in Toronto. If they can get him REALLY on the cheap I say sure roll the dice but only if it’s a really cheap 1-2 years max deal.

I am a bit more intrigued by Kassian on the mega cheap if he gets bought out.

If Dubas can get a couple guys on show me deals that have a decent to big year it would be very helpful (yes I’m stating the obvious).
