I'm not at all surprised that you can't be educated on the sport. Yes, sometimes they don't work out. Myers had 27 games with Nashville. In and out of the lineup. Tough way to get your game back.

ask yourself why he was only limited to 27 games.

If he was 25 with less of an injury history or if the contract only went 4 years, he is worth it. But 30 years old, injury history and 8 years is a disaster. Maybe you can even justify it if we were relevant right now. And proof of this is no one would trade for that contract by giving up real assets and accepting the full salary
- mr4tno

He is 29 and he has been pretty durable until last season. The point that they may not be relevant is justified (I believe they will be a good team next year…please be healthy Ellis…). Yet, when they signed this contract most thought the team would be relevant. And Coots is a great example for young guys to develop under. He can take a lot of hard minutes and be productive.

Obviously 5 months away from the Flyers was not enough to shake the phycological damage that they did to him. Fresh start, new coaching staff, not enough. Nashville, where all the folks on here clamored would make him great since they breed Dmen.

Be honest... he's contributed a lot more to the level of discourse on this board than most people have. CBA, salary cap, systems... our understanding of those things would be diminished on here w/o him.

We can debate the tenor and style of his delivery, but he provides a service here... namely checking the fools so this place doesn't devolve fully into a full on facebook circle jerk.

Now... tell us exactly... what do you bring to the table? Besides your "gift" for pathetic nicknames...

I'm not sure Brassard is a good comparison. He makes about a million dollars and has been for the last several years. I'll take Couturier at $1MM any day...
- mr4tno

Haha. True. Brain fart. Bergeron. Haha. Can’t believe I missed those two names up.

I look at Myers stats and I don’t see a bad player in his mid 20’s. I think his career still Salvageable. He had one bad season, which is glaring in both his stats and anyone who watched his final season with the Flyers. In fact he was paired with Samuel Morin and some people were blaming Morin for mistakes that were clearly on Myers. With this said, Myers in my mind made a huge positive impact next to Sanheim the last time we made the playoffs. I’d take another chance on Myers.

So I just heard on NHL Sirius/XM radio a little while ago that Fedotov has been sent to the arctic and is now part of the Russian navy. WTF!

Are other players seeing the same fate? Or is this strictly because he was with SKA? Morale for the Russian army must be high haha

well, and not to bring back and old conversation, but is why some of us were not thrilled about them resigning Seeler. Better options for the 7th spot. i would take myers over seeler to fill in when ellis goes down. or to have on the third line if ellis was not ready to go. but aagain there may be someone else that is better. did not look at the UFA board yet.

first question is who is in country. they were able to control him and set an example for others to be fearful of. I think Bill mentioned the Russian Dept of defense owned the team as well. And notice they did not send him to an area that would put him at risk...or wouldn't imagine it would.

None of that changes he is a fraud. I personally love Cliff as he is entertaining. Always one of his kind everywhere.

Tell us almighty one, what do you "bring" to the table? Another one who thinks he is the man on a phantom message board.

My nicknames rule coc diesel.

There is no question Phil Myers is better than Nick Seeler. Four years younger too.

Nothing to do with smarts. That's nonsense. He had no issues with smarts or hockey IQ all through his development into the NHL. The Flyers ruined him and destroyed his confidence. Playing on a team with no defensive structure and catastrophic breakdowns. TB knows the tools are there but he just has to be "retooled" to get his confidence back.

Seeker is a none issue at 775. He can be hidden in the AHL unless needed. Myers at that price I would jump on. I still think he has some NHL skill with more NHL talent. Not sure if he will develop but the kid has tools and is still young enough.

But it seems Tampa wants to develop him.

Flyers usually push that contract limit so true to that. Though currently they only have 33/50 filled with a handful of RFA to sign. They are in better shape now then they have been in the recent past in my estimate.

I think it was suggested that Tampa might buy him out. I don’t see why they would do that. They made Luke Schenn work, you can make Phil Myers work.

It's anyone's guess as to what's going on over there. Their misguided leader checked out of reality about 20 years ago.

What does politics have to do with simply ignoring someone who offers nothing to this board, new guy?

There is no research needed. Regardless of what Tampa chooses to do, any team would be wise to take a chance on Myers.

Myers has only one year at 2.55m. If they can resign him next year to a team friendly deal then a great move in my mind. I think Myers has some talent to work with.
