But they are likely to buy him out. - bmeltzer
From Brisebois today:
BriseBois said the Lightning are not considering a buyout.
"No, our plan at this point is to work with Philippe Myers," he said. "We've liked him going back to his junior days. We really like his tool box. I've liked him in Philly. For whatever reasons things didn't work out for him at the tail end in Philly and in Nashville last season.
"He's only 25 years old, he's a 6-foot-5 (210-pound) defenseman with size and some physicality. He's a quality skater. He can improve his skating. In the past we've been able to work with players and provide them with resources to become better skaters. He has a huge shot. We think there are enough tools there that intrigue us enough to work with him and see if we can't help him reach the potential we saw in him not too long ago."
They're gonna turn him into a (frank)ing superstar, aren't they?

This poor kid.
What a nightmare. Can’t wait for the planet to eliminate the virus known as humans.
We are getting there faster then ever. - konalover711
Put your money where your mouth is and start with yourself. Just sayin, buddy.
Brisebois was quoted saying they are not looking to buy him out. "We've liked him going back to his junior days, in the past we've been able t work with players and make them better skaters".
So a healthy roster currently looks like this. Not horrible but far from impressive
That is what you posted. If it isn’t a mock lineup then what do you call it? - furio16
Noah Cates was pretty impressive at the end of the season. I would expect him in the lineup. I also expect Laczynski. Doubt Allison stays healthy to stay in the line up.
This team has issues, however I don't see the Couts contract as anything near the biggest problem Our team is far better with him than without, If he were in last year, no way we were as bad as we finished, We had (have) no one in line to replace him, Really think he should have just walked? - GPerogie
He absolutely should have been traded. Just do the math.....we are 5 years away from being relevant (if you are to believe the majority of the people), which means Couturier will be 35 making ~$8MM and 3 years left. Even if he were to return to a semblance of himself in the beginning (which is not a given), in 5 years we will be toast. We will be looking for ways to rid ourselves of that contract, which, of course we won't be able to because CF paid him mostly in bonus dollars. Not signing him would have been a PR nightmare, but a bullet that needed to be taken in the short term. Now if they had not traded for Ellis (damaged goods) and not signed Hayes to that ridiculous contract, then absolutely you take a chance and sign him.
Chychrun apparently isn't getting traded unless its an obscene trade in ARI's favor.
And apparently the Flyers are trying to corner the market on undersized wingers.

I would trade for DeBrincat and risk they can sign him long term. 40 goal scorers are not exactly plentiful. Even if it means moving TK in a separate deal. I would like to keep both, but I would move TK to make room for DeBrincat.

According to TASS, the would be @NHLFlyers goalie Ivan Fedotov will be sent to serve on Novaya Zemlya, an Arctic outpost. This, without a doubt, has been arranged by CSKA owner Igor Sechin, Putin's close friend, as retaliation for wanting to leave the KHL.

Yes I heard the Arctic as well but not the rest of these details thanks
Myers is worth a cheap price as an option. The guy has the tools. You never know if he puts them together eventually. But in the mean time he is serves able as 6/7 for sure.
