Not sure where you have that number from? Currently (taking Brink out of the picture) they have 20 players signed with Frost, MacEwen and Tippett to sign (all restricted free agents with Frost being a 10.2(c)) and just over 6 mil in cap space. - peesinwind
They "owe" 295K for bonus overages -- that reduces this upcoming seasons cap hit by that amount |

Ok, well MacEwen plays 9:40 minutes on average, so he meets at least the standards of ice time you’ve requested. All fourth liners needing to play on the PK is questionable, especially when you sign or trade for players such as Couturier, Hayes and Atkinson. - SuperSchennBros
The Flyers need 4th liners like Adam Hall and Jimmy Dowd not the zac attacks of the world |

Certainly an interesting trade, will have to wait and see if there's moves to follow, although I don't see McDonagh moving again....but, this move only points further towards the real reasons for Nashville dealing Ellis....there's no way you can say that move was strictly about the money looking at McD's contract. - Flyerfan2868
Mostly but the Preds were also in a different situation, they seemed to be deciding if they were going to retool, they were moving out contracts, last season I think showed them they have the squad that is a playoff squad. That said, their studs will have to have near career years again |

1 year vet minimum. He can compete for a 6/7 spot as a RH shot. - MJL
Isn’t he getting 2.5 mil for 22-23? I’m not up on salary stuff but 750k is the league minimum. Do they have another minimum for vets?
Nashville’s biggest issue during the regular season was their 3rd pair D. Myers played in 27 games so he was a 7D. If he’s getting 2.5 next year are you comfortable paying that much for a 6/7?

Flyers going after DeBrincat hard, they should absolutely try to get him. Acquiring elite talent sign me up. Two time 40 goal scorer before 25 is worth the assets to give up. It will make the draft anti-climatic, but so be it. |

The context is if there would be interest if Myers is bought out by TB and is a UFA.

The Flyers should not trade for DeBrincat for the same reason why Chicago is looking to trade him.

You’re right but how long has it been since we had a Dowd or Hall? While most are bellyaching about Zack MacEwen, we’re signing the Chris Vandevalde’s and Nate Thompson’s of the world who can by the way kill penalties. How is this working out for us? |

Be nice if they could draft and develop their own elite player for a change. |

Who is bellyaching? You brought him up by including him in a mock lineup. |

The Flyers do not and will not rebuild. The tried to compete last year and look what happened. They will try to compete this year. Now maybe their incompetence gets them another high pick.
So you think TK will get you a top 10 pick next draft? What prospects do you need to add? What value do you think Lindblom has at 3 million per? - furio16
I agree with this statement but disagree with the strategy, which is why the Flyers will never win another Stanley Cup until the salary cap is eliminated in the year of our lord 2250. |

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking as well, I just wasn’t sure where the relationship between him and the team stood at the time of the trade. Did the Flyers want to move on, or was he a player who Nashville targeted? - Quetzalcoatl
I was surprised we didn't grab him when he passed through Waivers but maybe CF was saving the cap space at that point i still love his size and potential but apparently he might not quite have the hockey sense Nashville giving up says a lot, they have groomed some of the better D in the league for several years. |

The Flyers can't afford DeBrincat for the same reason they can't afford JG. They have made their bed by deciding to go with the geriatrics (Couturier, Hayes, Ellis, Atkinson). They will be paying them $6-$8MM well into their 30's, which is why they need to keep as many draft picks as possible. |

Makes the most sense. Plus gain a little cap space. Love a GM who doesn’t let himself get attached to a players. Moves them out maybe a year early. Why some teams win some don’t. |

So are you saying the 8 year contract given to Couterier was a mistake? I kid of course it was a mistake. |

This!!! We are far far away from adding pieces like this. Flyers won't be relevant again for another 5 years minimum and this is just a waste of assets and top 10 picks just to stay middle of the pack at best |

Smart play this year is to let the kids play and see what we have moving forward.
No to Mac
Frost 3x2.5
Tippett 3x3
Let these kids earn there contracts, enough with overpaying and letting them get comfortable and then there stats go down. Always amuses me that these players have career years when there a UFA. Why didnt they play that way all of the time? So to me that means money is the motivator. let them earn it! - Flyerloon
2.5m? 3m? WTF
You want to motivate them by giving them more then they should? That is not a fair value for their production or potential right now.
Although I do agree with your other logic, stop paying these players out of loyalty and hope. I love Farabee as a player, but why is he a 5m cap hit?

This team has issues, however I don't see the Couts contract as anything near the biggest problem Our team is far better with him than without, If he were in last year, no way we were as bad as we finished, We had (have) no one in line to replace him, Really think he should have just walked? |

It’s not a mock line up. He’s still restricted and because he’s restricted, he’s still ours. No different from me listing Frost and Tippett’s names in this “mock line up”. |

Farabee - Couturier - Atkinson
van Riemsdyk - Hayes - Konency
Laughton - Frost - Tippett
Lindblom - Brown - MacEwen
So a healthy roster currently looks like this. Not horrible but far from impressive
That is what you posted. If it isn’t a mock lineup then what do you call it? |

Yes they are a better team that is still in pretender status. So in other words on the outside looking in for the foreseeable future. So who cares if there is no one to replace him currently.
No not walked. Traded at the 2021 deadline. |

I know what I posted, I typed it. Are you referring to line combination that won’t happen because it’s summer? It’s just a listing of players by position. |
