Smart play this year is to let the kids play and see what we have moving forward.
No to Mac
Frost 3x2.5
Tippett 3x3
Let these kids earn there contracts, enough with overpaying and letting them get comfortable and then there stats go down. Always amuses me that these players have career years when there a UFA. Why didnt they play that way all of the time? So to me that means money is the motivator. let them earn it! - Flyerloon
Mac is like 25 years old, makes peanuts and plays like 5 to 7 minutes a night. The guy had little effect on this team whether he plays or not, plus our team isn’t very good. If they bring him back, great. If not, that’s great too. |

Moves i would make are,
JVR(50%retained) to seattle for future considerations
Oscar gets moved no sweeteners, not sure who.
We just need space on the left side even with farabee out, would like to see a guy like forester take 3rd line wing spot.
My 4th line is Laz, Allison, rat time to see what we got and see if they can stay healthy at the nhl level. |

Farabee - Couturier - Atkinson
van Riemsdyk - Hayes - Konency
Laughton - Frost - Tippett
Lindblom - Brown - MacEwen
So a healthy roster currently looks like this. Not horrible but far from impressive. So if we remove JvR and Lindblom, our next great hope is Jackson Cates or whatever? One of the Cates kids? |

IF we move JVR and Llindblom then replace them with Forester and Rat. Younger faster cheaper. We need to get these kids playing. Guys in question wont help take us anywhere except 10+ mil in cap space.
Scary scenario is they move both of them and sign Johnny hockey, not sure who is going to score the goals. We really dont have a shooter at the moment, maybe tippett.

Flyers have 295k less in cap space. Comical for a team that was bottom 5. - hello it's me 2050
The Stanley cup winners have only $25K in overages compared to the Flyers, who sucked this year, and still managed to pay larger bonuses. |

That is too much for Frost and Tippet. |

Having guys in your lineup playing 5-7 minutes a night is a waste of a roster spot. There is zero need for him when you others knocking on the door who need an extended look.
He does have an effect on the team as he bleeds goals and chances. |

That line could potentially add a level of excitement and we can't have that....

Foerster is not currently NHL-ready. Ratcliffe will compete for a roster spot.

That lineup is below average and not a playoff roster. Switch a few pieces with in house players still not moving the playoff needle.

The trouble in Russia with Fedotov, Farabee's surgery and Ellis not getting a clean bill of health doesn't look good for the Flyers. Gotta agree with the previous statement....
The hockey gods hate Philly... - Thors-Hammer
Very true and it is because we won 2 Stanley Cups by NOT playing hockey the way it was intended |

Bill, not much chatter about the Shaw hire. Your thoughts, personally do you like the hire? I like the idea of an old school defensive guy. Also, any inclination of who might be out there who can help the Flyers, on the younger side, maybe more innovative than we’re use to, taking over the PP and offensive side? Thanks. |

My hope with #5 is the Flyers draft Jiracek if he is still on the board. Big, RHS defenseman that can shoot and shutdown opposing players is too good to pass up and exactly a cornerstone that the Flyers can build around. I would also like to see the Flyers trade TK, Lindblom and a prospect or two to get a high 2023 draft pick if the opportunity presents itself. Right now the Flyers have too many complimentary players and not enough top end talent, and the best way to get that talent is to pick in the top 5 or top 10. With a top 5 pick this year and with these trades the potential for two top 10 picks next year, the Flyers will finally be well on their way to rebuilding for real. |

In my opinion, how much ice time should a 4th line player play? |

Excuse me for asking but who said anything about the playoffs? Unless a miracle “retool” is made, I don’t think anyone has playoff hopes. |

I like the hire because he preaches strong side pressure. Pkers still have to execute. |

The Flyers do not and will not rebuild. The tried to compete last year and look what happened. They will try to compete this year. Now maybe their incompetence gets them another high pick.
So you think TK will get you a top 10 pick next draft? What prospects do you need to add? What value do you think Lindblom has at 3 million per? |

10-12 easy. Hopefully one that can at least play on the PK as well. This way you not tax the other lines over an 82 game season. Either way there is no need or reason to have ZM on the roster. |

No, not the future elite shutdown down d man. Lol. Will wait for everyone to say it’d should’ve been him instead of Ellis. |

Bill, do you think the Flyers would/should be interested in bringing him back as Ellis insurance, or was that bridge burnt prior to, or as a result of, the Ellis trade? |

Ok, well MacEwen plays 9:40 minutes on average, so he meets at least the standards of ice time you’ve requested. All fourth liners needing to play on the PK is questionable, especially when you sign or trade for players such as Couturier, Hayes and Atkinson. |
