As a Ranger fan who lives in Nashville, I am happy.

I know trading Ryan Ellis hurt the Preds last year (although he was hurt and missed significant time, anyway), but they are loaded on LD so which one is going to move over to play the right side? McDonagh can, and I guess he wouldn't have waived if he wasn't willing to do it.

A weird thing is for like 4 or 5 days now I’ve been seeing these posts on twitter saying Rangers are taking to Nashville about Josi

But before yesterday I would have told anyone in the world they were nuts if they said Mcdonagh to Nashville 🤷‍♂️

I think it IS weird that you've sent that. Josi to NYR make zero sense. We have one of the 3 highest scoring defenseman in the game under contract at $9.5M/yr. Why in the world would we add another of them at $9M??? Unless we were swapping him for Fox, which is beyond dumb.

Only thing I could potentially see happening is Rangers using Panarin to get a top 10 RW. I dont think Chicago can afford it cap wise but DeBrincat comes to mind.

Yeah, I guess that would make the economics work. But, you'll have some work to do convincing me that our management team isn't happy with Lindgren, Miller and whichever youngster grabs the 3rd spot, on the left side. Our 6 would be elite, but I don't know that the roster overall would be better.

I get the feeling that no one actually believes it will happen, but unfortunately our time on here will likely be filled with this sort of thing for the foreseeable future.

To be honest with you. I think a straight up trade Panarin for Josi would exactly what this team needs

It lets Lafreniere move to top 6 left wing.

It gives an additional 2.6 mil in cap space, along with dumping Nemeth would give them cap space to pursue a legit top 6 center

Josi and Fox as the powerplay duo would be like Leetch and Zubov 2.0

Josi is a FA in 2028. A lot of term left for a 32 year old defenseman

It's amazing to me that one off hand comment from Drury being "unhappy/disappointed with Panarin's playoff performance" (which we all were) despite him having 16 points in 20 games, is being interpreted by some as Drury being ready to ship him out.

Doesn't he have a full no move clause?
Hasn't he been our leading scorer the 3 years we have him?
If we were stupid enough to trade him, wouldn't it be for a center, not a defenseman?

Panarin for Ryan Johansson and Tanner Jeannot. We’d seriously have to consider that if these Nashville rumors are true

That would give us an additional 3 mill or so and a true third line LW, and a good one at that getting under a million bucks🤷🏻‍♂️ And that elusive center of course

Maybe Duchene. His NMC doesn’t kick in until next year and he’s signed 4 more years at 8 million per. They left him exposed to SEA last year but then he had a career year this year. He’s mid 50’s in faceoff %. Are we a better team with Duchene and 3 million in cap space over Panarin?

Panarin 186 GP and 250 pts as a Ranger. …and we want to trade him!? We’re bored is the answer. Drury is not a dumbass

Either CK has to learn to play the right side or drop to line 3. Considering the cap issues, Bread and Zib should be together, providing Laf with 2nd line LW minutes

His point total while with the Rangers is not the whole story. It doesn’t appear the club will be able to garner enough supporting talent to win a Stanley cup with Bread. Part of it is economics, his 11 mil a year salary was signed pre cap shutdown, it’s about 2 mil more than it should be.

His 5x5 play was non existent in the playoffs, and was also troublesome during the year. The bloom is off the rose with the Strome connection, Bread made him better it wasn’t enough. He’s never had a top flight right wing to play with since he’s been here. If your going to pay someone 11 mil to play left wing, you’d better have a substantial right wing on his line. It’s not Kakko.

All these issues with the Russian government and his optical views are a distraction. He sometimes looks completely lost and overwhelmed out there.

Will they trade him? Has he asked to be traded? I have no idea. But, unless the club remakes the line he plays on you’ll have a very productive winger, and little less.

It’s not about his points. It’s about we need a 2C and when he signed his contract no one could’ve predicted the cap would remain flat for years. I’m not saying for sure we’d be a better team without him, but I think it’s worth exploring if the right deal came up.

Maybe he’s over paid by 2 million but you’re never going to make up the difference in any two players and $11 million

Move him up to play with Zib and hopefully CK can make the adjustment to the right side
