According to Arthur Staples from the Athletic, Julien Gauthier and Alexandar Georgiev (RFAs) have both requested trades from the Rangers. Gauthier just re-signed today for one year at $800K.

I noticed that the NHL.com site started breaking down team needs and think the Blackhawks should go offense man who can set pace.
Chicago had 140 points (29 goals, 111 assists) from its defensemen this season, the third fewest in the NHL. The Blackhawks lack an offensive-minded defenseman in their prospect group; their top defenseman prospects, Nolan Allan (2021, No. 32) and Alex Vlasic (2019, No. 43), don't project to be big offensive producers.
They suggest Ty Nelson and I would put Lane Hutson in that category.
Ty Nelson is 5 10 195 RD.
He has great puck skills:
The little teapot is short and stout, and extremely strong on his blades and shows plenty of snarl. You could easily argue he has the best offensive instincts and puck skills of any OHL defenseman. Uses his low center of gravity to leverage puck carriers to their surprise. He has really strong wrists and shots. A terrific carrier who is tough to move off the puck. Not an “offense”man, but an all-around defensive solid two way competitor. Shows high IQ, anticipates well, and cuts off designed plays by the opposition. After retrievals, he gets to loose pucks and quickly settles them, no fumble even at to flight speed.
Lane Hutson 5 8 155. LD
He also has puck skills and snarl:
Are you interested as to why each and every NHL team’s front office asked about height/ bone density-growth when they interviewed Ty at the combine? Because they all know he is a player - one who is strong on his pins, is really fast and an excellent stickhandler, and really good. He would for all intents and purpose be in that top four tier of junior defenseman, if he was four inches and had more body to him. A Tiny defender with tremendous lateral quickness, a lateral burst, a top gear, tremendous balance on his edges and superb puckahndler and passer. He is 68 inches. His size doesn’t hinder his team’s performance if he is on a talented club who dominates puck control, but with an average hockey club he is sure to outmanned physically. It is simply too hard to forget the impact he has on a team’s power play, with his superb stick handling and distribution skills. Or the way he can take the puck, head feints and gets separation and time to get an accurate pass to the best recipient on his attack. Vision, feet and hands are exciting characteristic that just make you want to see him succeed as an NHLer. Plays with outstanding balance and gallops around the ice on his piston like thighs with speed and power.

Flames supposedly offered Gaudreau 8 year,
approximate 76M contract about 9.5M AAV.

Johnny may want to test the free agent market. If he signs as free agent with someone it can be for only 7 years, so to match the 76M, someone will have to offer him about 11M AAV.

They should offer one of their 27 3rd round picks for Georgiev, he'd be a really nice addition

If kd is looking fir 3 1st and ready to play blue chip prospect, which I would be surprised if he got that, a crazy trade proposal just for discussion sake and mist likely never would happen.
Buffalo gets Debrincat Murphy and a 2nd round pick(#56)
Hawks get the 9th 16th and 28th picks in 2022 and Jack Quinn or jj perterka. Imo hawks pick Kasper at 9 lambert or the Russia with cancer at 16th and ostlund at 28th.

- Scott1977

I don't think you're getting three first-round picks from one team in the same draft

I mention that the other day. It’s all the Rangers expect to get. Maybe he and Lanky to buy time for Arvid…?

Maybe, maybe not, but even when the Rangers were not so good, he won more games than he lost, really is a low risk high reward move. Probably give up next to nothing to aquire him.

Agreed, he's at that age as well where goalies take the next step if they are going to be a solid NHL goalie. If he isn't we draft top 5, win win

The Blackhawks have actively discussed deals for Alex DeBrincat for the past three weeks.
Many trade candidates has tempered their interest because they think the price although exorbitant, is fair, but there not interested in further pursuit.
Los Angeles found a lesser player in Fiala, and the cost was easier to take, with only one pick & one two way defenseman who doesn't look like an big time offensive threat as the price.

We probably can say the NY Islanders, the Seattle Kraken, and the highly rumored New Jersey interest have be rumored.
I can say from understanding these three team's minor pro system that Islanders probably would cough up firsts, but would want Anthony Beauvillier, and other young journeymen departing instead of three first rounders.

Seattle has first rounders that may be successful years down the pike, but want to add
more now. They have only the prospect yield of the ONE NHL draft they selected in.
Def. Ryker Evans, C-rw Ryan Winterton are the best prospect capital.

(Could the DeBrincat Gordie Howe hat trick in Seattle this year, where he tagged a surprised and over confident Yanni Gourde on the face after Gourde ran both DeBrincat and Kane? Did that etch on the organizations mind in regards to the cat's fearless and dynamic play? )
Stay tuned...a big gamble to trade a slew of first rounders, but when Seattle was predicted to has a Vegas-like successful season, they didn't have the guns up front.
So I really understand their interest.

New Jersey
I totally understand the reluctance GM Fitzgerald would have about trading the second overall...I wonder if the Montreal selection of the Slovakian Juraj Slafkovsky putting them in a position where two true centres sit atop the remaining draft lists ands the devils may not to go pivot...Does the Montreal pick make a Blackhawk trade more possible?

Detroit Red Wings
I don't think the red wings can feel secure to land the center they like in slot #8,so why not take the plunge of a big time trade, Stevie Y ? -and DeBrincat would be more than a PR move.

The thing is Debrincat has a scorers skill set and a year of cap space to the Leafs, Oilers, or Avs too.
Is the future now?

Philly wants to dig out of their hole.

Who else is impatient and has the picks?
Nashville?
Anaheim?

Although I can't find the exact date but I believe Jones' new contract and NMC have kicked in already. I could be wrong so anyone can feel free to correct me.
- Theo Fox

I noticed earlier in the week on CapFriendly that Seth Jones was listed as having a full NMC. That site does a pretty good job of staying on top of such things so, my guess it is already in place.

He's all ours until he wants out.

On another note, 1st buyout window has now been open for 24 hours and I haven't read of any NHL player being bought out yet.

Because teams will try to find players new NHL homes attempting to get a late pick or another under-performing guy back BEFORE just pulling the plug.
And they have time to play cap math until October, so unless you have a rotten apple and are deparate to resign someone right now, they are concentrating on other moves right now.

Lkie I said the other day, I heard that Ottawa was considering buying out former Pens goalie Matt Murray's 6.25 million for one more year on his deal.
Then I read they said they may carry THREE goalis.
And today that they were looking for a deal with him included.

So is the first report accurate IF they don't send Murray and their 2022 1st round pick 7th overall and a rostered "yout" and a protected 2023 first rounder and more for DeBrincat, maybe they simply buy him out....

you have to think Ottawa has got to start winning as teh rebuilt rebuild may go on fro another decade... The 'cat might be the perfect new ingredient in the strudel of Stützle.

Don't if it is true but the rumor is that Ottawa offered the 7th overall pick 2023 1st and brannstrom for Debrincat and kd Saud no. How true this is just something I read. I would to say no instead of brannstrom include Ridley craig and Shane Pinto then yes pull the trigger.

If that was the rumored trade proposal from the Senators, I would have nixed the deal as well.

I'm not too high on Brannstrom. He's similar to Boqvist: great puck mover, okay defensively, puts himself into situations that get himself injured.

Agree, replace Brannstrom with Pinto or Greig then keep talking. I would ask for one more asset even if it's a 2nd rounder or defensive defenseman prospect Kleven.

Hawks could potentially gain more leverage if they take back Murray and as much of his cap hit as possible.

I like my deal the post before yours...Goalie Murray for one year plus 2022 first rounder, a protected 2023 first (reverts to 2024 if Senator's win lottery), their 2nd rounder 2023 and Jake Sanderson, no brainstorm with Brannstrom

Agree with your line of thinking, Wiz, but would think Sanderson is a non starter for the Senators. He seems untouchable, IMO.

Pinto's stock has risen this past season as well but doesn't project to be a #1 center like Sanderson projects to be a #1 defenseman.

Don’t think either will be there at 7. Think they would end up with Kemell or Lekkerimaki. Focus on offensive skilled players (especially if Sanderson is included in the trade).
