Bowness to coach the Jets. Yeo assistant coach for Vancouver. And the old boys carousel continues. - LAHawk
So in your eyes hiring old coaches is a bad idea and hiring young guys with not much coaching experience is a bad idea. Who should teams hire? |

Sure it has, BUT all three players identified as "core" are able to opt out with the become unable to handle the rebuild.
I am nott sure Seth's impatience in Chicago ends since he is also a guy with little playoff chances...
we all get to watch this new period in the S.S. Blackhawk as starts it's journey form the land of mediocrity. |

I never said hiring new guys was bad, I mentioned Lalonde for those that think you need someone who has coached 500 nhl games. I am all for Richardson. I am all for fresh faces.

In your draft preview I am curious if you go along with the consensus viewpoint, which is to draft best player available.
Our biggest need is probably a top line calbre center
and a sure fire top pairing and a top offensuve dman like Maker or Heskanen (on Dallas) represent players we surely need.
At one time I wondered if Chucago acquired two furst round picks, would the gamble on the small Russian whom Wiz has pointed out is a possible steal He may also not leave Russia
- jhawk59
The hawks need from the next five drafts, a dominant offensive man with speed, size and elite passing ability.
And a goal scorer,
and centres, a shoot-first centre and an offensive generator turbo.
and a face off man
and a power forward.
And a goalie
I keep hearing Yurok won't go until after #20 so I lowered him on mine. The kid with cancer is coming to the Montreal Draft which means he probably isa open top staying?
That probably guarantees his being chosen before the Blackhawks #38.
Many Russians are here already, so I don't think the ranks will change much, since most are here playing and adjusted as opposed to thinking about coming, getting out of signed contracts, or are unacclimated to North America, or going take their puck and go home to Russia.
Everything I read was many staffs were told Russians will be downgraded - others will take a chance and some with work out as NHLers. |

Your team has the 6th pick in the second round, 38th player on the board.
Your newly anointed GM is desperate to move back into the first.
Does that make you confident at the players available at #38, or is there a specific asset he feels he would love tom build around? |

I guess he doesn't want rethreaded old coaches, or young assistants.
Maybe the coach Kyle Dubas / GM Sheldon Keefe style of bringing in your GM whom has his guy he has worked with for years on the lower levels. |

I don't see Cossack Miroshnichenko falling far enough, late 1st rd, but if he did I could see KD, and others, looking to try and move up. ....... What player dropping do you see KD, or any GM, looking to move up to grab?
Where do you stand on small skilled NTDP Dman Lane Hutson at #38?

Wiz, could 1 or 2 of those positions be filled from a young asset coming back in a trade? It would seem very short sighted to only think you can get guys from the draft only.

Hawks trade Dcat to NJ for the 2nd overall and Holtz or Mercer and maybe Ty Smith. Hawks draft Cooley. 5 yrs from now Cooley adds speed/skill as a center or wing in the Fiala mold, 75 points, Holtz is a 30-35 goal scorer 70 pt guy and Smith runs the 2nd unit PP or is a trade asset. Cooley and Holtz or Mercer are 23/24 yrs old then....... That fit some holes you speak of and was that a good trade for Dcat?

I didn't get the impression they were desperate. Not saying I didn't miss something, but the impression I had was that getting a 1st rounder in this draft would be ideal, but not something they would bend over backwards for. |

The Blackhawks will more than likely be in the playoffs a few years before they might become Cup contenders as most teams do.

They do have 6 picks in the first 95. Plus they could combine some if those picks move up or down I'm the draft and get more assets. IMHO jersey or Buffalo ends up getting debricant. |

Triple that, add a few top 4 defense men and you're getting close.

I followed the Cubs game while peeking at hockeybuzz and NHL news today
This seems apparent:
The Blackhawks will be a lot like the Cubs are this season. Not too good. Lots of players getting time but many of them aren't long term the answer or holding down a job each game
Just hope the Blackhawks have enough veterans and young kids rising up, to be fairly competitive.
The goaltending situation is anyone's guess. If Laakinen stays healthy he is ok but not the guy you want in the future in net
Remember any clips from Laurel and Hardy or was it their predecessor "That's a fine mess you got us into.' Update: current state of affairs for the West Side hockey team. |

If kd is looking fir 3 1st and ready to play blue chip prospect, which I would be surprised if he got that, a crazy trade proposal just for discussion sake and mist likely never would happen.
Buffalo gets Debrincat Murphy and a 2nd round pick(#56)
Hawks get the 9th 16th and 28th picks in 2022 and Jack Quinn or jj perterka. Imo hawks pick Kasper at 9 lambert or the Russia with cancer at 16th and ostlund at 28th. |
