I would think Montreal would want to move up a bit higher than 15th though, if they don't take Wright at 1OA. They badly need a centre that can be on their top 6.
I think they would be targeting Kasper, who, IMO, is a top 10 pick. - Reubenkincade
It depends who they take first. If they take Slaf then I could see them wanting 15 ish to take whoever out of Kasper, Savoie or Geekie if they are there still. Or if they take Wright then they could be hoping to pick up A winger like Lekkermaki or a dman like Korchinski/Mintyukov if they slip. Depends on how things unfold.
Apparently the team can take him to arbitration to get that reduced by up to 25%. They 100% would have tried and gotten that QO reduced imo. - Retinalz

Or they just keep those 2 picks and draft a centre and defenseman with those picks. At 26 they could grab a good centre like Gaucher, or maybe Pickering/Bischel on defense with those picks.
Who knows, but I am fine if Canucks decide that the right move is to trade down.

Lots of possibilities. But they have out right said they can not draft 14 players in this draft. It’s just too many.

As along as they have a target they believe in and will be there, i'm good with it as well, if it get you an extra pick. I'm so tired of having less picks in a draft then we should. A team that is missing the playoffs, has a very weak prospect pool, especially on defense, and holes throughout the roster, should have at least it's minimum number of picks. Roster turnover for picks and asset management of this franchise has been a big part of the issue for a long time. How many picks do some of the other non playoff teams have in this draft compared to the Canucks...

Keep the gang together, don't trade anyone. - VanHockeyGuy
No, no ,no, we need to trade everyone, Boudreau 658 Canuck win percentage needs to get worse. The Canuck fanatical base knows what's best, and everyone needs to get traded, why...just because.
But hey then there can be a million posts how (frank)ed up everything Canucks is.

Kasper and Geekie... couple great picks if youres fan of big slow two way guys. Luckily JR has said many time he wants speed and skill.
Yep.
This is how I look at team building.
The goal is to win the Stanley Cup, that is it.
Owners will make money, if you win the Cup.
Fans will be happy, if you win the Cup.
Most issues around a franchise will be positively resolved, if you win the Cup.
Let's say, it takes 7-9 years from Entry Draft to Cup contender. Player is 18 yr old to 25 - 27ish.
5 years in the Cup compete window, player is now 30 - 32ish. if you didn't win a Cup during this phase and the player isn't generational (Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, etc) they are dealt for picks and young prospects. Sorry, time to rebuild. If they are generational, give them a bit longer till say 34, but repeat the sell for picks and prospects process.
You must have
1) Draft and develop window,
2) Team building window,
3) Cup compete window,
4) Sell, draft and rebuild window.
Team cycle of life...
The Canucks, NEVER DO THIS!
You need to suck bad to get the picks to be good, and you need to sell assets to get those picks. This middling team crap of "rebuild on the fly" and "stay competitive to just make the dance" only hurts your actual odds of winning the Cup, and find great and possible generational talents to make it happen.
But hey, 52 years of not doing this have worked out so well why change...
Edit; I should have put Canucks ahead of Vegas, as Canucks have a 1st and Vegas doesn't. Flyers ahead of Canucks because of draft position. - Reubenkincade
That's gross, but keep it going
Look at Detroit now, getting ready to compete and still have 10 picks. Stevie Y

Yes, the summer of tears. Ironic the people that want a tough team complain and cry more than anyone else
