and what kind of return exactly are we talking about for the habs if they slide at #2? the devils probably wouldn't be giving the moon for that, especially if it's been established the habs are picking Wright anyway...

well that's what I mean, the devils are also playing their cards right, saying "if the BPA is a centre we have no trouble picking him", while the rumour is they'd be going for Slaf. one of the teams could get (frank)ed in a way with this kind of trade.

rumour has it NJ were ready to trade their #2 pick for an established winger ready to play top6 minutes. they want to take the next step and compete for a playoffs spot. me think if they have a choice, they'd draft Sly, not Wright. whatever they say.

surely if those teams are talking to each other for a trade they could have some sort of "handshake agreement", so that they both know what the other wants to do, but if that's the case then why even do the swap? I'm not sure how relevant this move could be lol

let say both teams want Sly, but Habs are ready to pass on him if NJ pays a price.
then the Habs pick Wright at 2nd, (who maybe was their man all along) but they get a premium for sliding down.

He plays top 6 and he is paid like one…

Est-ce que Bergevin serait tombé en amour avec un de ses chouchous et lui aurait donné un contrat qui n’a pas d’allure???

Quand j’ai dits ça ici sur le blog avant la saison dernière, je me suis fais envoyer chier…

ah, I see. but if the habs want Wright, they could always pretend they actually want Sly, and acquire some sort of return in the process...

I'm sure Gallagher is gonna come back much closer to his former self, but his play has taken a drop, and his value probably isn't that much right now. Bergevin clearly did overpay, but I'm not sad that Gally is still on the team. under St-Louis I feel that he'll adapt his game enough so that we don't consider him as such a cap anchor. we'll see.

Gallagher lost his center and his left wing. add to that they started him on the 3rd line, giving a free pass to Caufield on the 1st to start the season. no wonder he had a poopty year, like everyone else.
give him a god damn center!

for sure. last year was a disaster for basically everyone, except maybe for Caufield who started lighting it up in the second half of the season after a cold AF start.

but if the devils do this they'd be kind of dumb, you'd think they would do their homework to try and figure out the habs' true intentions... I dunno what kind of info is shared behind the scenes but there has to be some.

He can’t do worse for sure…

I can see him playing on the second line with Dvorak…

Still think he is a reliable 20 G/50 PT player for a few years.

But they need to find him a role and consistent linemates, like he had with PD and TT.

Last year he was all over the place and seemed to not have role tailored to his skillset... but then again, the whole team was used in a poopty manner for most of the season.

NJ are in a tough spot. their's only 1 winger among the top prospects. all the others are either centers or dmen. they could always pick a center and play him on the wing, but I think they would prefer to have Sly. and honestly who wouldn't. he is #1 on many lists.
to the contrary, Habs need a center. (mind you, they also need a LW).
plenty of centers in this draft. no McDavid, but decent prospects.
this will be interesting even is chances are nothing will happen and Habs will draft 1st.
