Yeah, but the players have to pay back $1B in debt to the league through escrow.

As of March of this year, the NHL was predicting that the cap won't significant rise until the 2025-26 season

Maybe if revenues continue to beat projections year-over-year then that significant rise comes a year early, but you can only skim so much escrow off player's checks. It's not like they can make $0 and put 100% into escrow.

I did find this in an article:

"There is, however, a provision that the two parties (the NHL and the NHLPA) can negotiate a cap increase larger than $1 million if HRR grows faster and higher than anticipated."

Hopefully that is something that can actually happen. Even an extra Mil would be beneficial instead of the 1 mil each year we have been seeing.

Yeah I mean anything helps at this point, but who knows what'll happen. Until there's any sort of real report that it's something they're considering...I'm just going to assume the league will continue bumping the cap up by $1M/year until they're made whole

There is this from an ESPN article 2 weeks ago, reiterating some of what we're talking about:

The cap could increase by $2 million per season, and transition to a formula-based calculation for establishing the limit for the 2023-24 season and beyond, if hockey-related revenue reaches $4.8 billion. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said Wednesday that the league is still projecting revenue for this year but that "things are very strong and very solid."

The NHL salary cap won't increase significantly until an estimated $1 billion in debt held by the players is repaid to the owners. Bettman said the league is projecting that debt to be paid off in "two, maybe three years." Many have speculated the cap will jump in the 2025-26 season.

Here's hoping for that 4.8 number.

Looks like Anaheim needs some contracts to hit the cap floor. I wonder if Nemeth likes California?

Are we supposed to go gaga over Dubois? He’s .66 point per game for his career.

French connection line w/ Blais

I like the guy but it sounds like he’ll get paid to much and to many assets to get.

By the way, according to information obtained during the final, the #Rangers of New York would be more than interested in acquiring Pierre-Luc Dubois. Ongoing negotiations with the #Jets on the parameters of a transaction. It's not done, but Chris Drury is very interested

Would you make this deal as proposed on Twitter?

If they were to get PLD, what Contextant do you give? Short term, four years, buying out one UFA year, or long term? Either way, looking at likely $7 mil plus

What about Henrique for Nemeth and a second?(half retained on Henrique). He’s only got two years left, he had a decent season although he was injured, I’d assume, playing in only 59 games

Steadily been over over 55% on draws

I would need them to take Nemeth

I don't mind the thought at all of packaging Kakko and Lundkvist for something good

I'd just rather see if a package like that would entice Montreal for 1st overall

Is this Garand guy a good prospect? No one mentions him as one but his numbers in juniors are really good. Maybe he could be a piece in a trade, cause he ain’t knocking Shesty from the net

he's really good prospect but probably a few years away, and that coincides with Shesterkin's contract being over

they may be considering grooming him just in case
