Makar wasn’t even on anyones Radar???? That’s just incorrect. More Hexy loving nonsense. 27 had scouts on his own staff begging for Makar and there were other teams who ranked him number one including the Canucks. Had Hexy just listened to his people for once the entire nhl dynamic w Makar going to Philly would have been different.

From Trevor Lindon:

Trevor Linden caused mini-headlines following the Pettersson pick when he said in a Sekeres and Price interview that the Canucks would have passed on both Nolan Patrick and Nico Hischier — the industry consensus top-two prospects — if they had the No. 1 pick.

In reality, Cale Makar was ranked No. 1 on Vancouver’s final draft board. Pettersson was right behind him at No. 2.

- Joe Nardone

Not sure how many times this needs to be stated but there was no consensus on who to pick among Flyers scouts. If there was a defenseman whom more scouts wanted to pick, it was Heiskanen. Not Makar. Get your facts straight.

If Cooley is on the board when the Flyers pick 5th they need to take him. He would give this team what it desperately needs(speed and skill at the forward position). Thanks!
- Phillywhiteout

No doubt. But it would be a miracle if he was. I'll bet Cooley feels the same way. No way he wants to be stuck playing in front of 5,000 people in Arizona, but thems the breaks.

So Ogre and Letang leave Pitt. Does Crosby come down with a mysterious ailment and miss the season? Pens finish bottom 3 and get another franchise player in the 2023 draft......

Malkin and Letang, so pissed off at the way Ron Hextall and the Penguins have handled their situations, both decide to sign with the Flyers at team friendly 1 year deals to stick it to their old franchise and their new(ish) ex Flyers GM.

Nah 7/8 year deals is the Flyers way. From all accounts Letang wants to get paid.

Oh yeah I am seeing he wants 5 years at 8.5aav.

And yeah he is coming off a season where he put up 68 points....but the guy has to read the room. He is 35 years old and any team who signs him to that deal is on the hook for the whole thing as an over 35 contract.

I'm sure someone will give him that deal or something close. but in this case I think the Penguins are correct.

It would depend on how the contract is structured. Multi year contracts signed at 35 are no longer automatically 35+ contracts. If it is not front loaded or have a signing bonus in the 2nd year or later, that doesn't come into play.

Both will get paid no doubt.

Pens have done a poor job the last few years with those 3 still in house and productive. If they let one leave might as well let both leave. I myself would go for it and try to keep them and do what you can to win the next few years. Unless they let them walk and have a clear plan to acquire other top end players to replace. Not sure the GM is the one I would trust though for that.

What will Crosby want? I cant imagine he sits back and says nothing.

Makar wasn't on anybody's radar ENTERING INTO HIS DRAFT YEAR. By the time the draft rolled around, he was in the top-15, top-10, top-5.

He was a FAST RISER, which was what I was replying to. OP said in the last thread that he didn't wanna touch any fast risers.

The post had NOTHING to do with Hextall. jfc Hexy-haters need to get a grip.

There is one thing that is consistent with most Hextall-haters. It is that they are uninformed.

I had heard rumors of Jagr fitness level before he came to the team. But when he was here the levels he went to stay in shape were legendary. That alone raised him so high in my view. The way it rubbed off of other players elevated the whole team. It was a shame they jerked him around after that season.

You better make sure you’re at that draft table July 7th. The Flyers might fumble something so obvious without your help.
- SuperSchennBros
Dude, we're talking about the Flyers. Do you really think ANYTHING is obvious to them? They passed on Caufield twice! And I don't have time to get into all their other drafting blunders. My guess is that they'll take the defenseman that already has an injury history cause that's what they do.

Any predictions for the draft?

Does Konecny or someone else get moved for another first rounder?

Do Flyers trade back a little to get more picks?

Do Flyers take a swing on someone if they stay at 5 like Jonathan Lekkerimaki or maybe Mathew Savoie?

If Cooley is there at 3 do you try to move up. Does Cooley have a high enough ceiling where you go get home to be that future center for you.

My outlandish very unlikely prediction is the Flyers end up with 3 1st rd picks.

Traded down from the 12th position instead of drafting him and then they took York in the 14th position when they drafted. That's passing on him twice. Of course the Habs gladly took him at the 15th position.

LOL. The Flyers had one pick in the first round. They passed on him once. Do you have any faith in Cam York as a player? Do you like the pick?

I guess we look at things differently which isn't all that rare. They could have picked him at 12 and 14, and they passed twice. Guess it's a matter of semantics. I have serious concerns about York. He plays a nice game, but he seems physically challenged and has already had injury issues. Let's just say if we had to do it over I'd still take Caufield(I actually threw my sneaker at the TV when they didn't take Caufield).

The Flyers did not have the 12th and 14th pick in the draft. They had one pick. They could only pick one player. They passed on him once. York is physically challenged? He is a physical horse and a workout demon who is in top physical condition.
