If this GM thing doesn't work out. He has a future in teaching a used car salesman class.

Would anyone trade the #5 for Buff's #9 and #28?
- hello it's me 2050

Looking at Fiala and Konecny they're totals are pretty similar. And Fiala just signed for 7.75 for 7 years. If that's the case then the Flyers should be able to get a 1st for Konecny. Am I wrong?

Until the draft happens I still think Ottawa is the spot. They want a top 6 forward and Konecny at 5.5 is pretty reasonable.

I can live with 5 and 7 if thats the case.

Take whatever defender falls to them and then at 7 you probably have a pick of Savoie, Kemell, Gauthier and Jonathan Lekkerimaki who i do like.

Assuming Wright and Slavkovsky go 1 and 2, the issue becomes: Is Cooley a probable #1 Center; are the 2 RHD probable top pairing Defensemen? Then depending on what the team has in the pipeline, what’s more valuable. I don’t think Arizona has either.

Eklund's rumors for the morning. Of course the Flyers are linked to Johnny hockey and he is saying that AZ and Seattle are interested in JVR. Giroux wants to stay in cushy Florida, but the rumor this morning is that the Pens would like to get Giroux to be their second line center if Igor leaves. Wonder what the fan base would think if Giroux donned a Pens jersey? All taken with a serious grain of salt cause it is Eklund after all. Thanks!
- Phillywhiteout

CC will not go to a market where there is pressure to get a cup. No one cares what happens in Florida. He can go about his business like he did here in philly with no one bothering him.

That being said I hope wherever he signs he take a huge discount.

And they seem to be moving Chychrun so that is another defender that will be moved out.

D is more important than C.

Don't see many teams without legit top-pairing defensemen winning Cups.

Pronman had them taking Cutter Gauthier with the fifth pick.

So Fiala got a big contract. I am sure Fletch was in on him. Former Minnesota player coming off a career year. That scenario is catnip for Chuckles.

I think the pick will be Cutter. From the name to the player's vitals and the fact that he is a fast riser that can play center. Just screams Flyers pick to me.

I had heard this one years ago. Its the same kind of desperation deal Homer pulled when he traded the #1 pick for Steve effing Eminger.

That failed miserably so I think Homer was throwing darts.

I am not a fan of trading TK, unless it is an overpay, he is the type of player the Flyers need more of, not less.

I do think they will find a home for JVR, I do think they will move LIndblom, they will have space, add speed and skill and leave some space on the cap

I wouldn't trade him just to trade him but I think you will get solid value back and clear some cap. I do think there are times he leaves you wanting more. But if I can get something like the Wild got, maybe a little more since he is signed for 3 more years reasonably, I would probably do it.

Listening to Torts speak about the type of player he likes, I don't get why people think he and TK will have issues. TK is one of the few guys on the team with a personality and regardless of what people say he still led the team in scoring. Torts said he wants guys who will push back on him and show some heart on and off the ice.

It seems to me TK is exactly the type of player Torts wants.

A few thoughts

After watching Lupul on nasty knuckles, I decided to check out Mike Richards, who I thought to this point was dead. It wasn’t as funny as the Lupul podcast but definitely more informative. It was interesting to hear that he’s still not over losing in 2010, even though he would go on to win twice in LA. It was more annoying for him to get noticed in public than have to deal with the media, as he stated it was sort of apart of practice. I loved hearing about what I can only describe as a man crush on Peter Forsberg. I think Forsberg had the same effect him his career as Jagr in the locker room for Voracek, Simmonds, JvR, Hartnell and Giroux.

We as fans on this board always think we’re right and always try to convince others on this board that we’re right no matter the topic. When Richards was traded, from his perspective it sounded like he was more sad with the move, where with us as fans were angry. We took it as he and Carter partied too much which created a toxic Environment, where as Richards believed the high ups told Holmgren to do whatever it took to get a goalie, which makes more sense to me. Obviously with the line up we had and what they were getting paid, big pieces had to go to make this happen.

One thing I’m learning about this team is, the most simplest of reasons is likely the correct reason for doing things. Where as is as fans complicate everything.

Agree on TK. He's the team's only playmaker right now. Flyers used to have "too many" playmakers, now TK's the only one regularly generating scoring chances for his line.

Lindblom is the kind of guy who would thrive doing all the dirty work on a line with great players, like a Knuble. He's currently being wasted on this team with no top-end talent.

with a team and the right make up Lindbolm has value, agree wasting here, if the Flyers had a solid team he would be fitted and add value. On the Flyers, Lindblom becomes someone whos skill set can be almost replaced by a younger, cheaper player.

I’m not at all in favor of buying him out. I bet JvR could be an easy sell at half the price to a team like Toronto who is currently contending. Toronto knows JvR, they have a good power play but never quite replaced JvR in front of the net. I believe Tavares replaced JvR there, which is kind of a waste for Tarvares’ skill sets. Plus the Leafs PP is way too too heavy. All their stars are on one unit. What the return would be, I have no idea but I think JvR has a lot of value on a one year deal.
