This is a supposed weaker draft say compared to 2023. If 2023 then yeah maybe I stay at 5 and 7.
But say this year I can get one of the top players by moving to 3, maybe I prefer taking a shot on that guy.
I was just bored with all the Ellis stuff since its a medical thing. We will never know ALL the facts so thought I would create a new discussion. - J35Bacher

Everyone is saying the same thing….varying opinions on the top 10 with almost everyone. - landros 2
AZ is a wild card i think.
It looks like it could go...
MON - Wright
NJ - Juraj Slafkovsky
AZ could go with Nemec since they could be moving Chychrun so they might want to inject some defensive depth to the system. Or they swing for the offensive game of Kemell. Or they just take the Cooley.

I am not objecting to anything. You presented a point
"3rd not worth that much"
I asked then what is it worth?
You state your points.
I bring what I feel.

So we talk about injecting high end talent but then when it comes down to it you prefer quantity over quality? - J35Bacher
This isn't a draft where #3 has a much bigger potential to be a good player than #5 or #7. The gap between the first 7-8 players is tiny.
That doesn't mean every player is gonna work out the same, or even work out at all, but there's no way of knowing that today. I'd take more picks in the top-7 than just one shot.

I agree there is no consensus…a few months ago I thought Wright at one all day long….now I’m not sure. Although I agree with your comment on the quality of the draft I think there is a great opportunity for the Flyers to get a guy that will be a fixture here for a long time. That parts exciting. |

Exactly. It would be one thing if you're using that to move up to snag a generational player but that's not the case in this draft.

See but that is why i feel the other way.
If the draft was stronger then I would feel like "Ok, I got 2 top 10 picks so I can get more quality out of two picks".
It was just a thought.
I still feel like Ottawa is a team they can deal with though. The want a top 6 winger and I think Konecny fits that bill for them and signed to a reasonable deal since Stutzle will need a new deal soon.

Even Wright, Slaf and Cooley are more like "top-six potential", not L1 locks. The top tier of this draft isn't worth paying the price to move up for. |

Another note: Jonathan Lemieux G for the winning St.John Memorial cup winner last night is invited to the Flyers prospect camp…he looked really, really good last night. |

Your bang on with we’re Ottawa is right now. They are definitely in a position to be able to move the pick. |

I have to think that since it is most likely the top 3 are written in, well, if not stone then rapidly setting concrete, the Flyers, especially with the Ellis uncertainty, would take Nemec or Jiricek.
Personally I prefer Nemec simply because I think the Flyers need a dman with his skill set a little more than what Jiricek brings.
That being said, they are my top 2 choices.
And since they have both played with men already in their respective leagues, they would be a little closer to being ready to play in the NHL. Maybe even next season. They are both eligible to play in the AHL so that is also a plus.

Fletcher will trade the 5th for the 9th and a 2nd rounder. Then take the 9th and a 2nd rounder and trade for 8 6th round picks for next year. Then will smile at his presser after the draft talking about how he has plenty of capitol in a strong draft class. |

Do you honestly believe that Ottawa would give the Flyers the 7th overall for Konecny and an AHL player?
The 3rd overall pick is not worth the 5th and the 7th overall.
Welcome to silly season. - MJL
What would it take to get the 7th overall then Cliff in your opinion? You fraud.
|
|
|
|
You got it backwards. I'd rather keep the 5th and 7th. - MJL
Not what he asked you Cliff.

Eklund's rumors for the morning. Of course the Flyers are linked to Johnny hockey, and he is saying that AZ and Seattle are interested in JVR. Giroux wants to stay in cushy Florida, but the rumor this morning is that the Pens would like to get Giroux to be their second line center if Igor leaves. Wonder what the fan base would think if Giroux donned a Pens jersey? All taken with a serious grain of salt cause it is Eklund after all. Thanks! |
