Did you read what I wrote? I said buy out or trade. Indeed, the speculation is primarily that if the Sens buy out Murray the Leafs might be interested after a buy out. - spatso
I commented on you saying trade, so yes I read what you wrote but did you realize that I commented on your saying trading Murray because it wont happen the way he is now. Plus 99% sure they wont buyout Murray, that is 10M spread out over 4 or 5 years, not happening with this team.

An asset is an asset. What difference does it make if Dorion includes a 3rd round pick (or Hamonic) in a package offer on a large deal. Hamonic is not a bad depth pick up for some teams. He is not a good fit in Ottawa if Dorion brings in a top 4 Dman.
I can assure you without reservation that arizona would be very interested in Hamonic having a $3m cap hit but only $1m in actual hard dollar cost.
Pretty sure Dorion is not going anywhere and I am hoping to see a top 6 forward and top 4 Dman coming on board very soon. - spatso
For a team that is hard pressed for $ and will be next year too, seriously man, there is no way they are trading a guy that they just gave up a 3rd rd pick for along with paying 2M today. They are already paying Bobby Ryan and Dion Phaneuf today, plus 500k to Pierre McGuire.

There is significant evidence that the Sens have had an infusion of cash.
And, there is no doubt that Dorion has complete control of hockey operations.
So, how do they resign Norris, Formenton and Joseph. How do they add a top 6 forward? How do they add a top 4 Dman. This is going to add a minimum of $20m on the player salary budget and the cap.
So, either you move players and salaries out in order to create cap space. Or, you fess up and say April Fools we are not adding a top 6 or 4?
I assume you believe or want to believe that Dorion cannot get it done. I believe he will. We will all know soon enough.

Eugene and Dorion told us all a year ago on a few occasions they were adding those 2 pieces but they never did.

Boeser off the trading block for OTT, agreed to a 3 year deal at just under 7M, will walk him strait to UFA, no way OTT will trade for him now |

Vancouver is within $2m of cap with 17 players signed. Need to trade out salary. I suspect they will want to move one of their Dman (Ekmann-Larsen or Tyler Myers). Teams will be more interested in JT Miller and Connor Garland.
Miller, age 29, had spectacular numbers last year (32 goals, 99 points) but those numbers are far above his career averages. He will be a UFA at the end of the season. |

I know there will be lots of calls for Dorion to do something. Now!
But, this is the kind of market where patience is rewarded. Teams are struggling to fit their talented young assets under the cap. There are some very good UFAs coming to market (I especially like the Nichkusian and Mikheyev). Most of the traditional teams that can be counted on to pump up the UFA market are desperately trying to figure out how to live within the cap.
No different than real estate or any other market. When the market goes soft, some sellers will panic. Shop for spectacular deals. Be ready to go very big if the opportunity presents itself.
Do not chase the market, let the market come to your needs. |

Have you learned anything with this GM ove the last few years, he has no idea what he's doing, as he should follow what you are saying but he has yet to show the fanbase that he's capable of doing that!

I have never had a strong opinion one way or the other when it comes to Dorion. I do expect that there will be a change in ownership and Dorion will be moved into a different role. This is just the way its is, new owners want to have their own people in key roles.
I believed for a very long time that Melnyk was highly problematic. Many dumb things happened because Melnyk's ego was driving the agenda.
So, we will see what happens over the next 8 weeks.
My hope is that Dorion is able to clear deadwood salary and bring in a top 6 forward and top 4 Dman without putting at risk the Sens need to sign additional players (Stutzle, Zub, Sanderson) in subsequent years.
I am cheering for Dorion to get the job done. I understand there are some folks who have lost patience and expect him to fail. I guess that I am just more positive than some of the other folks on this thread.
Now that Dorion has this free hand to prove himself to us, I will have no difficulty expressing my disappointment if he fails us. |

Don’t trade the pick, draft bpa.
The team needs way more than a top 6 forward. There are literally glaring issues at every position that won’t be resolved in 1 season.
It’s unclear how the draft will unfold outside of the top 2..so wait it out. If a team is desperate enough to cough up a ransom on draft day, fine.
Until then, stay the course and keep the pick |
