Not having our 3rd in '23 seriously limits those who we can OS based on contract values (computed over max 5 year period)

we have no 3rd rd pick so it would have to be over 10,503,000 costing 4 first rd picks

Somehow i think we could find a way to aquire a 3rd round pick if we were inclined to offersheet soneone. It's like saying we're resolved to build the Brooklyn Bridge, but were not going to because we don't have the bricks on hand right now.

I believe it has to be their own 3rd (or whatever) round pick.

Yurov seems destined to the Sabres at 16 in alot of these mocks. The Russians F'ng with Fodorov (sp) the Philly G yesterday probably is causing a team or two to think hard about taking a Rusky early on.

Snag Yurov, move up to grab Miro in early 20's ...and pick Nazar at 9 if Savoie is gone

Miro - Nazar - Yurov

If necessary, send the elite extraction team of Don Luce and Gerry Meehan to spirit Yurov away from those dastardly Ruskies.

Durzi, young RhD who impressed on the Kings in 64 regular and 7 playoff season games should be a target...trade or OS. He's an RFA, played 20 ATOI, hits and blocks shots.
He could be Powers ( young albeit) partner.
Johnson, Bjork-stain, 2024 3rd
O/S him at 3 x $3.25m if not accepted.

Not if he's conscripted first after having the gall to sign an ELC.

They went all the way to St Petersburg to track that poor kid down and grab him.

In your scenario, it would need to be original Brooklyn Bridge bricks...there aren't any available.

It's humorous that you wrote a short missive without clicking on the link he shared where it outlines the rules.

They could make a trade with Vegas to get their 2023 3rd round pick back, but that feels like fantasy land stuff.

A strange case, for sure. That guy plays for CSKA Moscow, "The Red Army" colloquially, owned by the government and its players are considered military personel, sorta kind of.

It may be worth asking, "Does Yurov plan on attending the draft in person?"

Just awful for these Russian kids. Teams are rightly going to think twice.

Yeah, I get it, still (frank)ed up that it wasn't a problem until he signed his ELC, which doesn't mean anything; the Flyers said they hoped he be in NA this coming season, but that's hardly a ringing endorsement.

Poltapov also plays for them, will that be a problem when/if he tries to come over?

That's literally going to be the choice for some of them. Not the renounce citizenship thing, but they might not be able to go home for decades.

Easier said than done. Unless they try and swim the Gulf Of Finland, or wait until winter and go for a walk.
