50 points for pool party? That's a hell of a bet. Especially cause his impacts were a lot of Vinnie like play.

I do wish you luck though, I'd love to see laca attempt analytical thought.

- TheSabresTaco

Haha I don’t think it’ll happen, but I can talk about guys like Risto for a month. But if someone’s gonna throw out a bet 3 times I’m gonna take it

you think he was the 4th best guy up front

others think he was the 6th best guy up front

not really worth a pissing contest on a nice day

- homiedclown

hey that's fine. my whole thing here is trying to let everyone know he was a good player for us that had bad scoring luck.

I don't disagree, they all know how he performed, which was bottom. They like him, they like him in that room, and they want him there for the group. They could have done better, they should have tried to do better, but this is the path they chose and if he plays 25 games, so be it, he was ok sometimes.

being a computer nerd or and old school fan gets only gets you so far.

If you don't look at the numbers, the numbers behind the numbers, and how that player performs on the ice day in and day out, you're just not getting the whole picture.

Disregarding any data, during play or data points, is ignorant at best. You're actively choosing to not accept all available information.

Looking at the data points, one can surmise how a certain player is good or bad at a facet of the game. When you watch them play, you should be able to focus on that data point and come up with a conclusion after a few games to say, yeah, that adds up. If it doesn't add up, you dig deeper. You can see why Asplund affects his line mates the way he does. You can see why Krebs struggles at defense. You can see why Cozens has good analytics despite being unable to finish. You can see why Dahlin had such a bad start and did a total 180

Modified my post, gotta have an injury clause for something like straight points or it’s a useless wager
- SDSabre

Sure. If he doesn't play 70 games minimum no bet

Yeah idk what to tell anyone who is one here railing on Cozens.

Mitts, Krebs, yeah, rail on them. One can't stay healthy and the other looks like Adam Oats with half the assists and no goals. And somehow even wimpier than Reinfart.

Do opposing goals lose games also? Because he helps in that category a lot.

Kucherov falling to the second round because he was Russian despite the production he had in Russian junior leagues has to be the 8th wonder of the world.

If the Sabres are able to wait till 16 to snag Yurov, that would be lovely

BTW, since Pegs slithered away under his analytics rock, the bet is open to anyone in the analytics with zero context crowd:

I bet analytics stud, Jesse Puljujarvi, aka 1st class stiff won't crack 50 points next season.

The analytics crowd says he drove play on McDavid's line. Any takers? Loser has to change SN to winner choice for a year.

You make analytics out to be a crystal ball. It isn't.

Ivan Fedotov, the @NHLFlyers prospect, has been arrested in Moscow for "draft evasion." His crime was wanting to go to the NHL and thus displeasing his CSKA bosses. His punishment will be going to the military, perhaps even to the war

Shortly after ROR arrived in Buffalo, I had a debate on the worth of his contract ($7m) in EK's blog page...my stance was if he could pot 20-25G's , 60-65 pts and shut down top lines...thereby savings say 20 G's he would be worth every penny of it.
I was laughed at back then on the concept of counting Goals Saved for a forward.

Fast forward, those dolts must have infiltrated this blog page.

Nice to see an old guy diving into the analytics so long ago.

I hated ror as a person and yelled about it often. But he certainly provided some good value on the ice. A bit underwhelming but not brutal.
