Savoie/Yurov/Luneau. Calling my shot.

If Savoie is gone, Kasper.

If Yurov is gone, Lekks. If Lekks is gone, Nazar.

This is a messy statement.

Krebs and Cozens were 20/21 years old. Take a look around the league at players similarly aged and similarly drafted. You'll notice that most are not high impact players at this stage of their careers. Some, yeah, have done well. I won't go into the whats whys and hows for Krebs and Cozens to keep it on point. But you're comparing Asplund and Vic, entrenched veterans who are close to their prime and almost if not fully developed. I'd argue that most players Vic's age are done developing but he's been a late bloomer his entire life so I think I'd give him another year or two to see what he ultimately becomes. But to stay on point, comparing virtual rookies to veterans, veterans with a completely different play style, is totally unfair.

Lastly, I can confidently tell you that there were worse players than Cozens/Krebs than simply Eakin Bjork. You don't need to believe me, but Dylan Cozens was the 4th best forward on this team in regards to overall positive impact, and that's a statement I have cold hard evidence to prove.

- TheSabresTaco

Dylan Cozens career 120 games played.
Rasmus "entrenched veteran" Asplund 137 career games played. You lose credibility with statements like that.

And Cozens was less effective than Tuch, Tage, Skinner, Vic, Asplund, Okposo, and arguably Girgensons.

Asplund has 111 AHL games and 170 SHL games. Those are pro leagues. You may not care about them, but I would bet you ask a guy like Cozens and he would say that they would matter as far as being a vet.

lacrapruns doesn't care about anything, except getting Krebs, Mitts and Cozens OFF the team, and getting Patrick Kane ON the team

I would, honestly. I was sold on him last week after some heavy reading. I have no problem taking that risk at 28.

Fascinating. Professional games played.

Also, this is provably false. And I'm a massive Kyle stan.

Discounting players at the start of their development is certainly an opinion.

He was the best forward not on the top line. For a 21 year old, mid season, that's fantastic news.

Grasping at straws. We're comparing NHL careers here. Specifically, last season. I know Asplund does at least one thing well: he can shut down other 3rd line forwards across the NHL. That's useful in a young forward who has yet to hit his prime. Maybe he does become a guy who can lock down 1st liners. Why not?

Cozens....has grit. Sticks up for his teammates. Was not particularly gifted against other 2nd liners and got embarrassed often when teams could match their first line againat his line. I still have hope for him, but he should play a bottom 6 role next season.

Given the potential hopes for each player, I think Asplund has been better by a pretty fair amount.

And Krebs... he needs to bring a lot more next year. Not saying he won't, but it's got to come.

I doubt it will happen, but bringing in one legit top 6 forward would really help. The odds are against Mitts, Cozens and Krebs turing into top 6 players. One of them sure, two would be lucky, all three is highly doubtful. If any one of them plus a pick could return me a player of Tuch's caliber I wouldn't hesitate.

Anyone thinking Dylan Cozens was the 4th best forward on the Sabres last year is certainly inhaling something.

I would love to see your evidence that Dylan Cozens wasn't individually one of the team's best forwards.

Like the “Asplund doesn’t play 20 min against top competition”

This statement is misleading and semi made up

He did absolutely fine against his competition most nights.

I got no problem with wanting growth from guys and expecting more and if it doesn’t happen ship em off while there’s still value. But my point was he has 400+ games of pro experience. You can write that off, I don’t think the guys who actually play and coach (meaning the ones that actual matter, not you or me) don’t write it off and actually care about it. I’m not grasping at straws, you seem to be using extremely small sample sizes for extremely young pros in Krebs and Cozens specifically. But it’s a message board and is your right. Just thought I’d throw a little different perspective on at least one aspect you may or may not care about.
