I’ve never seen you this upset boss. 😂

But really if you are even questioning it you know it’s kind of a not so good plan.

- ImThatGuy

It's still pretty early, not even july yet....

Anderson deserves another year, be honest.
He played well, 1.5 million is 3rd starter type affordable $.

Just my opinion but the season looked different after upl went back to back against ny rangers and caps (maybe).

Team played inspired and confident in front if upl.

He deserves a shot as well... rookie $

Sign a 3rd guy to the mix, someone like talbot....

Or wait until both get hurt and cant play. Call up signing subban or actually make the trade we all wanted last season....

Said nobody with a championship mindset ever.
- buffalofan19

Well, right - we aren't competing for a championship next year or the year after that. When the window is open in 2 years I want to be in the best possible position to win. Signing over-the-hill vets like Malkin might make us marginally better in the short term but it doesn't help the long-term. We need to know who are other two centers are and we need to get them experience in big roles.

Even Xbox lol's.

You're giving up one or both of JJ/Quinn, first, additional picks and prospect(s)

- Powerslave

Not if Kane says I want to go home
Or no trade
Not many teams can take 10 million salary

you mean when they ask for 4 1sts for debrincat they aren't going to just give patty away a first, a re-draft 2nd rounder and a guy that could just walk in 12 months?

If this team wants to be able to say "we seriously want to win a championship" within the next decade with a straight face, it needs to come to grips with the reality that at least one of them are not on this roster right now.

At the very least, they need someone to slot between Thompson and Cozens. Even better, get someone above both of them, but that's a very tough ask.

I have to go back and listen.

In regards to that what did peek my interest was “if we pick at 9” and “picking as high as possible”

- ImThatGuy

Sabres like nazar a bunch, worried about detroit at 7

9OA ,41OA (our goalie pick) and bryson for 6OA

wait and overpay to retain the core is not a good plan given all this young talent and cap space right now

nothing more, nothing less

- homiedclown

So staying the course means you have to try to pay everyone all at once? The two have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Adams isn't "trying not to win" or "kicking the can down the road". He recognizes that much of the core is already here and he is going to let it grow. He probably also has concerns about bringing in vets into what is apparently a very good room.

I don't agree that these players have low ceilings. Also, from what we've seen over the past few years the teams that have done well in the cup had fantastic depth that was largely developed in their system. You fill in when your window opens. Until then you just keep watering and trying to find more good young players.

You can pretty much bank on one of Krebs, Peterka or Quinn falling well short of expectations.

You can also pretty much bank on a rookie wall at some point for Power

You can bank on an injury to a 41 yo goalie

Whatever.

- sbroads24

Wouldnt you expect better goaltending
Tuch healthy for a full season
Dahlin making another step forward
Power instead of hagg
Krebs with a season under his belt
Peterka over vinnie H or the drake

Whatever

We have a lot of candidates right now but you're right, we don't know that. And I want to know the answer to that question. The fastest way to know the answer is to roll the balls out onto the court. Signing a guy like Malkin kicks that particular can down the road.

you have dahlin and power

2 first overall picks on the roster

you have cozens, casey, kreebs, tage for centers

you have quinn, peterka for young wingers with promise

you have skinner

you have a pp specialist goal scorer in olofsson

you have your vets in okposo and girgens

you have samuelsson and joker to go with your 2 number 1 picks overall on D

you have 3 first rd picks this year

this is exactly when you use your cap space to get 2 or 3 impactful guys on short term deals costing next to nothing in assets

instead we are making paper moves to get to the floor and bringing back the 41 year old who was 44th in save %

this is when you overpay for 2 guys on short term deals, before you have to pay your core

- homiedclown

Yes, I’m in favor of short term contracts on overpayments. Been beating that drum for years. Adam’s can have a plan for that. He did it with hall. Doesn’t mean you should start trading multiple 1st rd picks and prospects for cat or fiala though. Two different things

You keep using this. What was his save percentage before he got hurt? He had the most wins of any Sabres goalie last year. Maybe the team played better when he was playing. Not everything is a 1 or 0 in sports.

if your team is full of young guys, how are you going to keep them all when raises are due?

that plan leaves a short window to win

- homiedclown

I hear people say this all the time (not just you). It’s possibly the dumbest argument I ever hear. If all the young guys need big contracts, it means they are good and we are winning. It’s not a problem. You just trade off pieces that aren’t your main core and continue to win with young guys you pick up in trades. Like every winning team does

the second dumbest is "how are we going to get to the cap floor", followed closely by discussion around signing guys to offer sheets.

Getting to the cap floor might be the dumbest. You are right. The literal easiest thing to do. “Hey unsigned FA, want to come play for us for a few more million on 1 year when your other option is you don’t get signed at all?”

Yet people freak out about it 😂

Tokarski was pretty much equal, arguably better. Neither were anywhere close to average.

Adams is putting all his eggs in one basket to go for it next offseason.

That’s how I see it.

- Pegullaville

you got 4 picks in the top 41 this year

4 picks in the first 2 rounds next year

dahlin, power, sameulsson on the back end

tage, skinner, cozens, casey, krebs, tuch up front with possible olofsson

quinn and peterka ready to go to nhl

vets in girgens and okposo

time to find a drury, teppo and mckee/warrener type guys and grab a goalie

I mean the prospects are stacked better now then in 2004

Did you hear Kevyn Adams yesterday? He made the Ben Bishop trade because not being at the cap floor gives agents more leverage in negotiations, as if players desperate to stay in the league are going to have that kind of negotiating power.

U do realize that free agency hasn’t started yet,
right?

Not a lot we can do right now besides bringing back our UFAs

Sure, a trade could be made
But Fiala wouldn’t have fit YOUR CRITERIA anyways bc he demanded a long term deal from whatever team got him

Let’s give it a little time to see what we actually do in free agency & at the draft

I would rather have a malkin and letang on this roster for 2 years then how ever many bishops you need to get to the floor

all anderson and tokarski does to this roster is prevent us from competing for a playoff spot in the next season

anyone who thinks anderson was average let alone good has blinders on
