Yet, many believe he's ready to do so with Quinn and Peterka, both of whom have fewer games of NHL experience combined.
- buffalofan19

Are we going to sit here and pretend that quinn and peterka have not had stronger and more consistent play than UPL? And as forwards they're handled differently.

Why was this a concern?
- DirtyDan

So let's pretend we draft kryukov in the first round but he doesn't want to play in the NHL. Doesn't that sound like a problem to you

Why would you waste a draft pick on a guy who doesn't Want To Be Here ™

Yeah, we're all upset. So what? Should Adams hit the gas because it has been so long? No, of course not. I also hate the "wants to be here" line that they sold the fans but at the same time I love the measured approach that they are taking.

And again, we don't know who the other goalies will be. That is the far more interesting question.

- Slump Buster

I wonder how many other teams had interest in Anderson.

My guess is 0

You said he committed to NA?

Doesn't that mean he would play over here?

Edit: NVM i see now.

We don't have the wealth of prospects like the Kings do. They're loaded, and that's why this won't make a dent.

We're also not coming off a 99pt year like they are. They're in a different spot altogether in their rebuild.

We also don't know who they asked for. You giving up JJ or Quinn? Maybe the Wild WANTED Faber, specifically. Maybe the Wild wanted a defensive prospect, which we have pretty much zero of (Laaksonen? That doesn't get that trade done, that's for sure).

Every time there's a trade made, 'The Sabres could've beat that!" How do we know?

- Powerslave

If I'm not mistaken the Sabres prospect pool was ranked #1

Which is absolutely a thing. There's always a handful of strong Russians not drafted because of that.

I don't hate Yurov at 16. It's a great value pick. Miro, I don't know.

Rushing to resign a guy who will be there in September? Idk man. Like the Bishop deal, this signals winning is not the #1 priority

Why is anyone shocked that Anderson is back? Like I said, we are pretty much going to have the same team as last year.

Agree. We don’t have anyone else ready to fill until our prospects sign. Rochester is going to be bare this year

He was signed as a mentor for UPL and 3rd string. I'm sure the Sabres are hoping his PT will be more like it was in 2020, when he played about 5 games.

this guy gets it

and they had the cap space to grab 2 or 3 impact guys on short deals without giving up many assets

I’ve been saying it for several years, that we should trade Eichel, Sam and Risto and do a rebuild correctly. It seems like we are doing that. Some posters still in denial here

Welp, it was a nice try. Keep that cost and they'll walk him right to UFA. Of course no one is going to pay that price, nor will they need to when they ultimately need to trade him.

Rushing to re-sign him? How do you figure? In what week are 3rd string goalies supposed to be signed?

The team needs to have a veteran goalie on the team for obvious reasons. So they have a guy that fits the bill: he isn't looking for guaranteed playing time, he is great in the room and he proved last year he can be a serviceable goalie. At 1.5 mill he is surely going to be a backup. The move is not indicative in any way of who their starter is going to be.

So again, why do so many have their panties in a jumble? He fills a (minor) need perfectly.

That's the customary starting point for stars in the league. It would have been surprising if they didn't start there.
