It sounds so much worse when you swap in Bishop and Boychuk.

They are going to write Bishop a 1m check Friday to never play for them.

Oh, I get it, but it's assbackward and shows they don't know how to run a business either. Remember 716? He was real good at finding dead dinosaurs in the ground, but real poop at other businesses.

It's about getting things down to one number. Using the stats the way we read them, we'll find value in players that no one else can see. People are overlooked for a variety of biased reasons and perceived flaws. Age, appearance, personality. Bill James and mathematics cut straight through that. Billy, of the 20,000 notable players for us to consider, I believe that there is a championship team of twenty-five people that we can afford, because everyone else in baseball undervalues them.

It's uncanny really. If they get out of this hole, it will be because of analytics.

It's drafting and bulding buffalo has a great core being Formed just have to be Patient a little more .

I just keep thinking of the Brandon beane method.

Draft. Develop and pay your own.

Then when it’s time. Splurge on bigger money or bigger free agents

Don't have to love it, but this started the day they hired KA, slashed the budget and got cheap extending their players.

Hard to replace Giambi, Damon, and Isringhausen.

- Lunaion

We can get clever all we want, but this team never had a Giambi, Damon or Isringhausen. And don't say "Jack". He couldn't hold their jockstraps.

Oakland didn't blow it up to tank. Their owner had a strict budget. And they signed the right players and won in spite of it.

Terry will (and has over and over to no avail) spend the money when the time is right.

Let Adams and his team finish the job.

Can we at least get a goalie worth $2-$4 million?
- Gr8daygo

Call Craig, he'll likely sign for 1 x $4.0m

What did Oakland ever win without Mark McGuire and Jose Canseco? Yep, nothing. Moneyball has a zero % success rate.

The Dodgers and the Astros have each been in 3 of the last 5 WS because they spend a ton of money. That's been baseball since free agency began. Nothing has changed, but the Oakland A's address will be soon enough. Great job, moneyball.

Think we've taken this analogy far enough. Damon and Isringhausen weren't all that valuable.

As much as I’ve wanted Fiala for two off seasons now.

I wouldn’t personally have given him that contract.

- Pegullaville

Not sure why people don't like this move for LA. He has hit a new level in Minnesota. He got a similar contract after putting up similar numbers as to Vanek did in 06/07.

Except it cost LA a first and a prospect. Compared to the 4 1st it would have cost EDM.

Good move for the kings.

I said a goalie worth $4 mill. Not an old man that’ll take $4 mill to suit up again.

And I like Craig as a development coach / ebug. Everyone knows he doesn’t have the starts in him this team needs.

I know. I know. We will end up with Craig, UPL, Subban, Tokarski and we should be happy because Of Craigs vibes, Suban’s signing voice and Tokarski’s… uuummm. Willingness to sign?

Takes a look at the NHL record set by the sabes. No we don't.

The sad thing, they could easily get into the playoffs next year with the cap space and young talent they have.

They could be using this off-season to greatly deepen their depth, but instead, they don't want to spend.

Colorado has how many players on their roster they drafted?

Good teams win by making smart signings, hockey trades (not tanking trades), and good drafts. They need to stop focusing on just one of the 3.

Won what exactly?

They went to one ALCS and got swept and got outscored 22-9.

The A’s are the Vanek and Roy Sabres.

They will get into the playoffs but never be good enough to win it because they won’t have the difference makers because they refused to spend big money.

This is a terrible post. Oakland had a ton of relative success given their payroll. Tampa employs a lot of the same principles. Actually, all teams do now.

Beane made tons of trades. I don’t think it’s comparable

He made two trades to get Allen. Traded for Edmunds.

Signed multiple FA’s to support Allen.

Imagine not signing John Brown because it would’ve blocked Robert Foster

Pegula makes money with the Bills, not much with the Sabres and now he is getting very nervous. Adams is here to " ease" things on him and reassure him. This will take a while to fix.
