I don't anticipate a very exciting offseason, especially in free agency, but I don't think it's because they're being intentionally cheap either. I do believe there's a plan in place here. My problem is that I don't see that high of a ceiling when it all comes to fruition, especially up front.

They're going to have to add up front. I agree.

What mogilny did was brave, detective russia

I'm not sure if that has any importance on being a hall of Famer?

He wasnt the 1st russian player correct? just the 1st to skip out on his country to play in north America

I thought many players headed over soon after.
Mogilny didnt pave the way if I remember correctly, he just left without waiting for a russian agreement and blessing.

- Boss34

He was the first Young Russian to Defect and play in the NHL, there was another Russian who played 1 season because he married an American back in 1982, but Mogilny lead the way. As far as being important to the game of Hockey, what if Mogilny did not defect when he did. would we of had Bure, Federov, Malkin, Datsuyk all in there Prime?? Prob not.

This interview wasn't exactly my favorite interview. He's consistent with his messaging, but just being high on Craig Anderson is (frank)ing lame. He explains why, but it's still lame. It sounds like they've been very active with trade talk, so that's interesting I guess. He sheds no light on the Olofsson negotiations, but they're ongoing.

homie don't think anyone is asking them to TM this thing, but they have assets to supplement this young core without hurting the future. I bag on Olofsson just to piss Boss of, but he seems on the cusp. Maybe that wrist injury was a blessing because it really helped his 5vs5 play, kid could explode.
- Buff36

There is zero reasons not to add an impact player up front and rd for a 1 or 2 year deal

And a goalie or 2

None of these moves would impact the kids

A winning culture should be top priority this fall

His messaging about only making intelligent short and long term moves remains on point. The Cat fits this mold in my opinion and I know some don't like the contractual obligations but it would be a homerun add at forward and it makes total sense.

is this still keeping you up at night? Because it shouldn't.

It sets the tone for the offseason in a bad way

They had a story on their drive to increase season tickets this summer and honestly to come out of the gate with this is a buzz kill

So if the move could be made at any time... why not now? After all, it has to be made sometime.

It's a move you expect the coyotes to make

I think you're skipping over the players that 'like what they see' and want to be a part of something. We're pessimistic poop but these types of players are out there, and Subban is one of them.

This is where I'm at. It could be nothing, and they go out and make a trade that blows our minds or something, but I don't think you make the Ben Bishop move this early if you plan on throwing money at free agents, or even making trades that require you to take on a significant increase in salary.

It screams 1 more paper move to hit the floor

1 or 2 blah goalies on the cheap

And maybe pk if they move on from olofsson

I broke this down a couple of weeks ago and did an ideal offseason of what we actually want done, and we were only a couple of million over the floor with Bishop included.

It's a nothingburger. Everyone and their mother knows that the majority of this roster is still young, developing, ELC contracts. It's just the way the roster exists. I don't understand the reason to pout about it.

PK Subban essentially has a job for life at ESPN, as long as he doesn't do something stupid/scandalous. He's way closer to the end of his career than not. If he signs in Buffalo, it's because he sees and likes the 45-minute commute by air to the Worldwide Leader's NYC studios. There aren't too many teams lining up for his services anymore.

They try to bury the bishop trade with the miller retirement

It's lean this summer with bring your pet day scheduled to be the only other sellout game

He's an example of a player who is interested in joining an up and coming team. The point being, a lot of these guys exist.

I'm not going to tell you that Buffalo is a destination, because it's not. But there's guys who want to jump on the wagon when they see something coming, and I think most of us can agree that we see something coming.

He said they're in on an opportunity with another team right now to "weaponize" their cap room. That was interesting.

See, to me, that's lame. But at least it sounds like we'll get 'a guy' and a decent pick. So.. whatever I guess. Hopefully the move is more 'he's useful but we need the money' and not 'here's Sean Monahan'.
