Colorado went really heavy into analytics after getting rid of Patrick Roy who was pretty against them. Most of the good moves came after that. - manvanfan
Idiots don’t use all the information they can get before making decisions, period. |

What about Ek rumours? They have no foundation or what!
I'd take Wahlstrom, Beauvellier, Col 2nd for Boeser and Rathbone. - manvanfan
I got it.
Sub out Rathbone and give them Dipietro and take Varlamov as a cap dump (5Mil)
The Islanders love goalies named DiPietro... and have no goalie prospects in their system that I can see.
And we could possibly move Varlamov and his 1 yr remaining deal to the Oilers for something as they love older goalies and need someone to split duties with Skinner. |

What is Van going to get for eating 5M of cap and Varly has a 16 team No trade which I believe the Oilers are still on it. Van is probably on it as well. |

The Vancouver Canucks have tidied up some minor league negotiations, signing Sheldon Dries, Guillaume Brisebois, and John Stevens to two-way contracts. Dries has been signed for two years, while Brisbois and Stevens have both agreed to one-year deals. CapFriendly provides some details on the contracts:
Dries: 2022-23: $750K NHL/$450K AHL – 2023-24: $775K NHL/$450K AHL
Brisebois: $750K NHL/$180K AHL
Stevens: $750K NHL/$165K AHL ($180K guaranteed) |

Plus I think they got an extra 3rd rounder when the Avalanche won from the Kuemper trade. Gonna be interested to see how all that plays out in three to five years. |

Result: Colorado won the 2022 Stanley Cup and Kuemper played more than 50% of Colorado's playoff games. Arizona receives the 2024 3rd round pick.
Kent Hughes has said MTL doesn't plan on using all of their picks either. |

Seven picks in the top 50…that’s a huge franchise builder if you can hit on four of those. |

Dhaliwal: Early contact has been made between Ethan Bear's agent and the Canucks. Too early to say if it will go anywhere.

Definitely need to find a way to develop better defenders, find better defenders.
Bear probably on par with Poolman, slightly behind Schenn but ahead of Burroughs.
Van will have Brady Keeper coming back also who before he got hurt looked like a possible serviceable depth D. |

He is a bit better offensively than all of those though. We do need a PP2 defenseman, Myers has lost his offensive touch it seems. As long as they dont trade anything much for Bear I'm fine with it, depth guy with some offensive usage. Probably an upgrade on Hunt. |

I would actually start moving out pieces. They got 2 Cups out of this era, so really it would be time to sell off some older vets. Stamkos, Kilorn and Mcdonogh if you can move them. Their team age is getting up there, so sell high. - carsonagenic
They have the best goalie in the league, still in his prime, arguably the best forward group in the NHL, and a perrenial Norris candidate on the back end. This is not a team you dismantle now, you keep reloading to go for it again.
I would look to move Mcdonough and Killorn as well, but not Stamkos or any other of their top guys. |

I didn’t say dismantle it, just move out some older pieces because they looked slow and tired against the Avalanche. Lots of injuries though. Rebuild some of the older pieces with younger faster ones. |

The slide can happen pretty quick though...ala Canucks vs LA 2012 and some of those top guys are in their 30's |
